Nevermore had courage. To reach the unfamiliar promise of liberation on the behalf of somebody else took a kind of faculty El only knew in battle. But to carry it into will through the force of her morals was truly imaginative. El's ethical compass was far more... focused. Let it take her. Somnus has been infested by the promiscuous womb for too long. El kept on marching behind Nevermore, ignoring It by swinging his head up and down maniacally. Nevermore wasn't as quick as he was, but she knew the way home better than anyone. It was Blue's job to support the soon-to-be-mother while El fell towards the back, the first line against any potential threat. It stayed relatively at bay from here, excited to jump into a chaotic storm of violence if necessary. He preferred to be in the front of the pack so he could clear out any potential threats before anything posed a danger to his sisters. Get them home. That's what matters. The Somnus border was distinct although it mingled indiscriminately with the vegetation of the Untouched Forest. Coming into the clearing was a sure sign they made it home, the grass becoming tall and soft as it reached up to kiss the moon, which, before now, was only visible through scintillating rays peering with ghostly imminence through forest canopy. The sun would come up over the first visible peak in about an hour's time, but the moon cast enough light on the field to illuminate the path to the commons. Then, all at once... Fuck. Oh... yes.
El dashed forward from behind Blue and nipped the back of her leg. With his teeth bearing in warning, this was her signal to run, and to spew her wild, unnerving vocals at Nevermore to give her the same cue. Get help! It was holding his senses captive the whole time, waiting to set them free at the worst possible moment. If there was any day he wished he could howl down into hell in a fit of rage against his own mind, it was today. But all his ferocity could do was whip his body around and face it head on. Standing at the treeline on the east end of the clearing, rearing its head in a barbarous roar, was the god damn bear. El stood his ground, digging his claws into the soil and reeling air into his nose to produce his best snarl. His hackles raised, boosting the threat of his visual appearance. His bright colors were usually enough to ward off the bears, but this one had a particular attitude It was dying to get to know. The bear raised itself onto all fours while it bellowed, and began making its way to him as soon as it came down. The bear needed to know El would not back down, so he matched its pace and stalked forward, keeping his shoulders wide in a stunning display of his physical prowess. El zigzagged as he came closer, creating as much distance between the bear and the other wolves as he could in drawing it in many directions. The bear stood still, unable to move forward, but its weight shifted from side to side in anticipation. It swung its massive arm at El whenever he came close enough, but El stayed light on his feet, enabling him to jump out of the way without losing his formation. Frustrated, the bear growled, and threw its body at El. Panicked, he fell backwards and landed on his side, but rolled away quickly enough to avoid another attack. Coming up from his defensive position, the bear began moving forward into the clearing, but El took the opportunity to send his hurling jaw at its ass. In another fit of warning the bear turned and flung its arm at him. El jumped back and held firm. Hurry up, guys. I need backup. He thought worriedly as his ears fell back in guilt. Nevermore had the best nose, but as the protector, it was El's responsibility to protect them against something like this. That he let his guard down, and let It take control of his body, plagued him with a sadness that could turn his battle into a lethal endeavor. You want control? Fine. Take it! El's eyes suddenly glared with darkness and a wet, dripping smile formed on his maw out of psychotic pleasure. Gladly.

Link was patrolling the borders, trying to get a few extra brownie points with Percy, when he saw Nevermore come through the treeline. Standing on the far side of the east outskirts, Link could barely see who was behind her, but a big round belly was hard to miss. "Hello!" He called from far across the clearing. "Oh shit!!!!" He called again, spotting the bear trailing behind El.
Link ran forward without hesitation, the sound of his feet pounding on the ground like a drum beat to his own personal theme song. On top of it, a strong, confident howl, signaling anybody who could hear him throughout the territory. He neared Nevermore and the others. No time to worry about who the strangers were or why they were here, just to get everyone out of here. "Nevermore, get everyone back to the commons! Also hi I'm Link!"
Link kept running, his legs already tiring from the sudden burst of energy, but he wouldn't let El fight this alone. Upon entering the battle, Link saw a strange flicker in El's eye, one he had never seen before. He had always been strange, but he'd never been scary. Link shivered at him, not at the bear, but quickly reclaimed his composure. "El, let's circle him!" Link, on the opposite side of the bear as El, began crossing his feet. The bear would swing in either direction but it wasn't predictable how far or how hard. At one point, the bear pushed off of its hind legs and came forward at Link. The giant claw scraped his flank, though not deeply. Link grit his teeth and suffered through it. When the bear turned to do the same to El, Link went in to bite what appeared to be El's own marking on its rear.
Bears were common in the fall and during this time of day, especially in Somnus, but this was his first time ever facing one head on. Jeez, this thing had personality, and wasn't backing down.

Shit. Aura was so glad that the bear wouldn't cross pack borders. Why did she not run when she had the chance? This is why she refused to get connected to anyone, now she had to play hero. Oh if she died from this, she was going to haunt that mother like there was no tomorrow. But she refused to let herself die. The pack wolves seemed to be forming a plan, which thanks to the overly friendly wolf, she now had names for. Nevermore, El, and Link. Why Link thought now was a good time for introductions, she had no clue. He must have been daft. And El looked like he was out of his mind in that moment. Then they had a blind wolf and a heavily pregnant mother. They would all die if it was left up to these wolves. Guess she had no choice. Racing past the pack wolves, Aura darted behind the bear, always staying at it's rear side. She would dart in, nip at it's legs, then dart out before the bear could turn around. That was one thing about a bear. They were big, bulky, and slow. Stay behind them, and they can't reach you. With luck, these other two bozos will catch on and follow her lead, and they could drive the bear out. Because they all knew they couldn't kill this thing without casualties. She looked at the grin on El's face, and hoped he didn't try, either. El Link Rory Nevermore Blue

’Oh fuck. Not the bear again,’ she groaned inwardly. Rory felt a little bad that the other wolves were in such a situation because of her. Literally. It all started with that fish, if she hadn't caught it, none of this would have happened. ’I hope none of these wolves gets hurt.’ A few moments later she saw one of the newer oncoming wolves, Link, get grazed by the bear. Luck really hadn’t been on her side lately. Before jumping into the fight, Link had mentioned Nevermore needing to get everyone back to the commons. Rory stayed close to Nevermore while the other wolves tried to fight off the bear. She really wished she could do something, anything at all to help, but about to give birth would only make her even more of a liability than she already was. Looking to the blind she-wolf, she waited for any kind of signal for her to follow. Speak of the devil, Rory felt a sharp consistent pain in the lower part of her body. 'For real? You gotta be kidding me. This is so not the time kids.'El Link Nevermore Blue Aura

Nevermore grew nervous when she appeared at the outer edge of the Somnus territory. She was aware of the pack's generous allowance between their territory and the rogue lands, but unsure of her position when it came to escorting rogues into the territory. Throughout their many stories she was informed of a time when such things did happen, but they always seemed to end in some kind tragedy. Good things didn't always go rewarded from their experience. A chill went up her spine when the reality set in. El was already getting worked up and initiating the escape signals. But Nevermore's keen senses knew that couldn't happen, because Aura was going into labor right now. Right. Now. Nevermore felt around for Blue's presence, listening for her voice, but she tugged on her tail as soon as she felt a sign of her. No. Nevermore went forward and tapped Blue's side with her tail as she passed. Follow.
"Rory, we wont make it to the commons. But I can get you somewhere safe." Nevermore said calmly, but inside she was wrecked. She could smell blood by the treeline, but she couldn't see El, couldn't hear him. She only had Link's voice to confirm whether or not her brother was still alive. Although she was shaking with fear, she wouldn't give up on her task. She led Rory and Blue deeper west towards a scent she knew well: yarrow. She stopped as soon as she could feel the bushy flowers on her fur, giving them a sniff to make sure. These were dense, tall bushes, perfect for the task at hand. Nevermore felt around for Blue, who she had tried to keep close to her side, and signaled her to stop with a tug on her scruff. "Lay here. Don't think about the bear. We're far enough and more help is on the way. Your pups will be okay." Nevermore assured her. Sending her nose into the bush she was able to snap off a few flowers and place them near Rory's mouth. "Chew these. They'll help with any pain and prevent hemorrhages."**skipping birth stuff because it's a LIL graphic lol** Blue Rory

It was a funny thing, that her most beloved had such a propensity for finding pregnant wolves in need of help. It had been only a few short years ago that the trio had been accosted by a cult, their alphess among them, and escorted the then-pregnant wolf back to Somnus after El had defended them from the mad, terrifying ranks of that foul pack. Now, Nevermore’s clever nose had found them yet another pregnant she-wolf, fit to burst if the plump curves of her sides and thick milk-scent were any indication. This time it wasn’t a group of crazies dogging their pawsteps though, but a bear. Breathless giggles left her maw, soundless to her own deaf ears but undoubtedly audible to all the rest. A Blue of the past might have been chagrined, perhaps worried that she’d unnerve the soon-to-be mother she supported at her side. But the Blue of today knew that wolves discomfited by her presence weren’t wolves that she needed to expend over-much effort trying to please. Her bright cyan eyes were focused forward as they ever were, with one distinct figure missing from her sights. It was odd for El to take up the rear, but not unusual considering the potential danger that followed. His nip to the back of her leg startled her, and she jumped high and sudden, tail tucking between her legs as she whirled mid-air to see what had stung her. His bared fangs were more than enough to convince her that something was terribly wrong, but her all-seeing gaze caught the looming figure of the bear at the treeline with ease. She had once been an adventurer, a reckless daredevil trapped in a fragile body of silk and hollow bones. But, she had long since abandoned that persona to be the foundation that her siblings needed, and so there were no thoughts of trying to square her petite form up against the hulking mass of muscle that was the bear. Instead, she parted her maw and released a wild, screaming howl, no care given to its volume or pitch as she followed after Nevermore. Her heart beat against her ribcage like a hummingbird’s wings, and she hoped fervently that her salutary sister would not have to use her expertise on El this day. She shook at the very thought. They traveled west, until the tall greenery and scent of yarrow was enough to shroud them from harm– and unfortunately, the border from Blue’s sight. She whined, high in pitch, the sound echoing until she cut it off abruptly. Normally she wouldn’t bother to quell the noises she made once she grew conscious of them, but she didn’t want to cause the laboring rogue undue stress. She could only pray that the prospect of getting through El, Link, and the second rogue would be too troublesome for the bear. Or perhaps her alarming howl had alerted the rest of her pack that something had gone horribly wrong at the border. She snapped her jaws together once, twice, a physical manifestation of the stress she felt as she was torn between staying to guard one sister or going to check on her brother. Her heart was in two places. El Nevermore Rory

Just as death waited for no one, so too was life impatient. Forever a race, as one takes just as much as the other gives. And so, things were in balance. Today, life had given, despite the looming threat of death hovering over them all. The bear, just as ferocious as ever, and yet, in their personal corner of the world, two pups laid nestled by their mother. One of the boys was a tiny little thing. A runt. And with the cries he was giving, one would think his lungs would be too large for his tiny body. He was so full of life, so strong despite how he was born. The young, black pup was a fighter. And a fighter he would remain. At such a young age, he already had such a mighty will, unable to see nor hear, yet all the more determined. For now, that determination was merely to get to his mother's milk. To be able to suckle, and get the nutrients he would need for life. Just as all pups did in their youth. What this pup would grow up to be, well that would all depend on the choices of those around him. For now, he was the picture of innocence, tucked into his mother's stomach just as all pups were. And his path rested solely in her paws. Rory , Merlin , Nevermore , Blue

The general had been hoping for a smooth exit, but as Red neared the borders and heard the roar of what she had been worrying about not too long ago she quickly kicked her legs into action. The smell of her packmates was fresh in the area and she hoped they were out of harms way. Arriving on scene she spotted Link and El, and an unknown rouge circling and nipping at an aggressive bear. The others, Nevermore and Blue, and a few rogues were far off to the side. They would be fine. Before moving forward, she let out a loud howl calling for back up. If worse came to worse, they needed at least a few more wolves here. Darting forward towards the bear, Red let out a vicious snarl, puffing her fur out and standing on the side that was not being guarded by the others. El had a look on his face that was unknown and vicious, setting her nerves slightly on edge. Evergreen eyes, observed the others. She was worried and their only goal should be on driving this bear out of their territory, not prolonging a fight or attempting a kill. " Don't get too close," she barked, " We need to overwhelm and drive the bear away," she commanded, looking to El to see if he would give any indication if he heard her or disagreed with her. At the time she was talking, the bear lunged towards her. Dodging out of the way she kept distance as the others drew its attention to them once more. The game of back and forth. All the bear needed to do was land a blow on one of them and then it would be a sure fight of life and death. El, Link, Aura, Rory, Nevermore, Blue, Tomlin

Growing up young in a pack dominated by elders never had Zelda thinking about her rank. There was always somebody older, more experienced and ready to step into any big task. But, when her parents died, she came to understand the finite nature of things, and that their legacy depended on her and her siblings. Battles her father used to fight for her were now Zelda's, the inheritance of her mother's renowned leadership much closer than a dream now. When she heard the battle cry coming from the borders, she was admittedly already on her way to scope out Link's execution of his scouting duties and tease him for already having finished hers––for brownie points, of course. Her mind had grown an extra limb since the prospect of ranking grew uncomfortable close, the reality much too mortal for comfort. The limb was primitive, and reached out over her more intellectual "A-side" and needed to survive. Her parents' deaths taught her that memories in the hearts of others are what keep you alive, and in a pack as big as Somnus, that meant making your mark as a strong leader. Zelda rushed into the outskirts. Ideas of who those rogues might be zoomed through her head inconclusively, and by the time she reached her brother the thoughts were long dead. Despite how he irked her, what with his constant drama and unsolicited heroism, Link truly was brave. Zelda held back tears when she saw the blood oozing from the claw marks on his side. Red's sharp, confident voice snapped her out any guilt. She was a remarkable general, and Zelda could not have been more grateful that she was already here. Stoic and commanding as she was, Red was an idol of great comfort to Zelda, knowing her history with her father. Zelda agreed with the general. Zelda knew how plagued with guilt her mother became when she was Zelda's age, fighting off a bear with her packmates to her friend's death. If they hadn't been intent on killing the thing, it may not have happened. That look in El's eye was something she hadn't seen before, but it looked like it was straight out of mom's story. Not knowing what it meant was enough to pump Zelda's blood hot with anticipation. They needed to run this bear out before anybody made things worse. "Right!" Zelda barked and sent her teeth at the bear in short bursts whenever it was distracted on the other side. A circle had formed around the beast, each wolf taking a piece of skin turn-by-turn. Zelda was the last to arrive, and because the bear was already growing overwhelmed by Red, El, Link and the stranger, it didn't waste any extra energy trying to put Zelda down. She had several openings for attack, but following Red's orders, she avoided any drastic moves, but continued making short jabs whenever the opportunity presented itself. Finally, the bear caved. The change in its demeanor was drastic as its energy seemed to shift from offense to defense. It backed away slowly as the wolves circled it, short cries of pain from the skin hanging off of its back. Without sacrificing its life in a rampage, the bear had no moves to make. Finally, its body twisted around and jumped off into the treeline. Surely, nobody was rash enough to follow him. Zelda, with the threat gone, was finally able to register the other event happening deeper into the territory. "Do not follow him, El," Zelda growled. It was the first time she'd shown any aggression to an elder, but fears of her mother's past shook her deeply, and with Link already injured, she'd be willing to fight El to pieces if it meant protecting her family. What's in him? she wondered with a pang of fear, but mostly sorrow. Such a lonesome wolf. Having no way to share his secrets or pain with others must have taken a silent toll on him. "Let's find Nevermore, Link." Zelda said as she came up to his uninjured side, allowing him to lean on her if he needed. She scanned the outskirts quickly, following a scent trail she had never known before. She could barely see the crown of somebody's head poking out behind a white bush. Nevermore stood near the stranger, offering her herbs and appearing to comfort her. Blue was difficult to spot as she blended with the yarrow, but as she came closer she could make out her alabaster frame, too. The poor thing looked mortified, but seeing El in one piece was sure to ease her mind. Zelda came up to her, Link by her side, and nuzzled her cheek for her bravery, before pointing her nose in El's direction to reveal his location. "Oh... oh my," Zelda coughed, taking a step back to avoid crushing two tiny, wet bodies wriggling on the ground. By now, the sun had began to rise over the mountain's peak, and she could see what was unfolding here. She bent down to sniff them, curious about this new smell. Her instinct was to poke them to see if they were really alive, if they were breathing, but she was positive that if she had the instinct then a real mother surely would, too. "The bear is gone. You're all safe now." Zelda began in a somewhat calm, somewhat confused voice. It was smooth, but her inflections seemed inconsistent. "Nevermore, can you help Link? I can stay with the mother for a moment." she said, looking down at the stranger. Whatever happened here would be explained in time, but right now, Zelda was witnessing something beautiful for the first time. Just like that, amid chaos and mourning with seemingly no antidote, life had spewed, remedying everything from the loss of her family to the anxiety of the event. Her heartbeat slowed, no longer wavering between her survival instincts and borderline panic attack. "Who is this...?" her voice rang sweetly, her tones suddenly evening with calm. Realizing her question was really regarding the puppies, she made eye contact with the mother, assuming that her identity was important knowledge, too. More pack wolves were beginning to show up, and thank heavens they seemed to be sensible and following along with what she was doing, and making sure everyone else did the same. Aura let out a sigh of relief when the bear seemed to be retreating, and another when one of the wolves that had come for backup made sure El did not give chase. That would have been devastating if he had. Link and the wolf that had held El back were going off to find Nevermore, and Aura followed suit, only to find that Rory had given birth. Aura laid down beside them, nosing the tiny things. They were so.... squishy. "When you said they would be due any day now, I wasn't expecting them to be born so soon. Especially not during a bear fight." Aura chuckled at her own joke. Although maybe it was moreso from the stress of it all that she needed to relieve some. Honestly, what kind of a mess had she gotten herself into? Fighting bears with a pack? And protecting a mother while she was giving birth? She liked a little excitement every now and then, but that was too much. "Do you have names for them?" El , Link , Rory , Nevermore , Blue , Tomlin , Red , Zelda

If Rory wasn't already exhausted, birthing pups certainly made her feel that way. Her eyes slowly opened and shut as she panted, listening to the fight with the bear. It seemed that the wolves had won the fight, thankfully. A few wolves she hadn't been introduced to had arrived, and Aura had also made her way over to where Rory lay with her two newborn pups. They were both boys, and even though she had previously wished to have at least one girl, she had her whole life sleeping beside the warmth of her stomach. One of the she-wolves had spoken with Nevermore, but she wasn't paying much attention and didn't hear the conversation. That was until she had been addressed with a question about her pups. Barely awake, Rory muttered, "This one's Merlin, that one's Tomlin. My name's Rory if you didn't catch it earlier, or weren't here. Now if you would all excuse me, I'd like to take a nap." She finished her introductions and closed her eyes once more. This time in effort to sleep some. 'They never said having kids was this difficult, y'all better be glad these guys were here in time to save us.' Her thoughts drifted as she fell further into unconsciousness. As like any other would, Luke felt displaced, lost. He had been wandering by himself ever since the flood through Noctis territory had swept its way through. He had wanted so badly to find Wren, the love of his life. She had been separated from him just like his two sons were. He wished that he had prepared them more, somehow kept them altogether despite the unknowing course of the waters that rushed through Noctis territory. Maybe if he had known they needed to get to higher ground sooner. But there was never predicting the weather that found its way through the lands Luke called home. During the flood, his leg had been snapped, breaking completely and without a Salutary to help, was still grievously wounded. He had sought out the help of others, wanting nothing more than someone to find him and help him with his leg. But that had turned against him as he’d ventured across a pair of rogues that were going to kill him due to the famine that wracked some of the territory that he had ventured through. He had barely made it out with his injured leg, defending himself enough until the two crazed individuals by some luck turned on each other. He didn’t come from that battle unscathed however. His right eye was now shut, having been completely taken out from the rogues in question. However, the lid was swollen with puss, no doubt an infection caused by improper healing. He hadn’t eaten for days it felt like, and without others to provide for him and now without a second eye to help him see and coordinate his hunts, he’d been forced to scavenge the territory. The mighty Alpha that he once was vanished as soon as each had been taken from him. He was unsure if he would ever find himself with Wren again, and he wished that she were here as cracked paw pads slid against the ground, back leg dragging itself as Luke went towards home. But home was not the same one he’d been washed from. It was the home that he’d called as a pup, one that he had fled for the sake of his own sanity because he saw something in Noctis that he didn’t have in Somnus. Something that had moved him to leave. But as he drug himself to the borders, his eye welled with tears at the sight of his home. “Azaelia, Ocean,” He breathed their names. Unknown to him that they had passed. “Eureka, Draco,” The names of his siblings tumbled from his lips as he looked onto the vast Somnus borders. There were wolves there, his nose worked enough to know that. Dragging himself at a faster pace with the scent of those familiar to him so close, he found himself looking at the spitting image of the elder’s of his old pack. But they seemed much younger. In Luke’s delirium, he crumpled to the ground, looking towards them with a distant look. “I finally found you. Ocean, Azaelia,” He cried as he looked at the visage in front of him. Tears welled within his eyes. “Where is Eureka? And Draco?” He asked for his siblings like any other would, hoping that uttering their names would bring them to appear. Zelda showed up and was the key factor in overwhelming the bear and pushing him back and away. Immediately Red assessed the situation. Link was injured but with the salutary nearby will be in good hands. Red moved towards Link's injured side, if he ended up trip and falling in the opposite direction of Zelda, she would be there to catch his fall. Stopping a bit away, she let Zelda escort Link the rest of the duration. With all this chaos Red could feel her resolve fading slightly, the worry for her pack and family. Looking at Zelda, Red had a feeling everything was going to be alright in her absence. " Zelda," she called over, waiting for the other to approach before speaking. "Y ou did really good today," the younger she-wolf really had, her leaderships had really blossomed over the last year. " I just wanted to let you know that, and that I am headed into the rogue lands," Red felt a little nervous going into any more detail so she stopped there. " I will make sure the bear has left the territory and isn't rounding back towards us, but I know everyone will be in good care here." With that, Red dipped her nose in farewell before making her way to the rogue lands. - Exit to Volcanic Glades - Zelda Link

Blue paced the length of the yarrow blossoms, alabaster pelt gathering their scent as her flanks brushed the petals on every pass. It was either pace or hover, and she had no desire to crowd Nevermore while she assisted Rory through the birth. And, while no birth was easy, this one was at least blessedly quick. With no way to detect the thunderous snarls and snaps in the distance, she had no way to gauge the progression of the fight happening beyond her sightline; her distress manifested as a quiet, buzzing growl, cut off only when she paused to inhale.
Her noises ceased as the scent of blood was abruptly accompanied by a smell she’d experienced only a few times before: the unmistakable aroma of freshly-birthed pups. She turned, cyan eyes electric-bright as she took in the little babes curled at their mother’s belly. A croon bubbled up from her throat unbidden, a sweet coo trembling in the air between her and the pups. Oh, how enamored she was! How precious were these two lives, pristine and undisturbed as a freshly fallen blanket of snow. She pressed her nose briefly against Rory’s cheek, a soundless, affectionate press of encouragement for the new mother. It had been so long since her rank as guardian had been meant for more than just prey. And while she was hardly the first she-wolf to be taken with pups, they held a unique opportunity for Blue; as they grew up around her, they grew used to her vocalizations in a way that no adult she met truly could. Judgment was something she’d never have to weather from those so young.
It was part of why Eureka and Azaelia’s litters held such a firm place in her heart.
Speaking of which, Zelda and Link’s scent tickled at her nose a heartbeat before they rounded the bend. She mustered up a chur for the two, pleased at their presence even if her anxiety was not entirely abated. Zelda’s nuzzle was reciprocated with a brief lick to her shoulder before Blue was off like an arrow, because they stunk of bear— and if they were here, that meant that the problem had been taken care of.
Her eyes sought out El as easily as breathing, skinny legs eating up the distance between them. She knew that there was danger nestled soundly within her brother, a danger that welled up closer to the surface when required. It was not something that she understood, but it was something that she knew how to spot. The dark curl to his lips and peculiar light to his eyes betrayed the presence of something other, but still this other occupied the body of her beloved brother– and so, to Blue, who thought in such simplicities even in her adult age– he was her brother.
She wasted no time in circling him, keen gaze raking over every hair on his pelt in search of injury. She would whisk him away at the slightest bruise, but her maternal instincts were wasted on him in this instant. He was miraculously unharmed, and she could finally feel the tension in her chest settle and disperse. She knew better than to touch him while he was riled up so, but still she couldn’t resist the brush of her cheek so, so fleetingly against the thick column of his throat. Love shone through the movement, pure and true. It was a moment interrupted by the halting approach of another, a wolf that she did not know well, but that she did know.
Luke?
He looked a fright. He was missing an eye, and one limb dragged loosely behind him. A tremulous gasp caught in her throat, eyes searching frantically behind him for the source of what could cause such injuries– but there was nothing. She could read the names of the deceased on his lips, and her heart went out to the larger male. It pained her that the burden of informing him of Ocean and Azaelia’s deaths would fall to their very children. She wished that she could take the burden onto herself. Her vibrant blue eyes welled with sympathetic tears, and she blinked them carefully away, instead pressing into El’s side and arching up to give his ear a gentle tug. If he would turn his attention down to her, she’d tilt her head, the slant of her ears and curve of her lips easily translated. You’re okay?
Blessedly, his enthusiastic reaction warmed her heart and quelled her worries. It was with a light step that she followed the rest to the commons, reading enough of Rory's words from her lips to accommodate the mother by nabbing little Merlin in her jaws before traipsing off.

Midna's legs held steady atop the watery film that blanketed the symptomatic green shrubbery of the east borders. So close to the rogue lands, the terrain here varied more than anywhere else in the territory and obscured the border. It was common to see smaller canines scavenging the area, but this time, it was a bear. The scents were ripe, those of blood and beasts and even the general she had spoken to just an hour ago, but her senses betrayed her when her eyes couldn't find a sign of Red anywhere. Bears. Midna chuckled. Ironic.
She came to almost a full stop, refusing to spend any more energy than she had to. Before the day had started for the masses the Somnus machine was already whirring, restlessly oiling the lands with perversity. It was always at work here, and so was Midna. The identity of the rogues was a concern Midna felt comfortable dismissing for the time being. The trail of blood her brother left behind as Zelda escorted him to Nevermore was a much more pressing issue. The look Midna gave Zelda was one she'd given her many times before. Her eyes were sheer with acuity, their brazen orange hue ever-judging. She felt bad for Link, but she wasn't surprised by the outcome. His behavior was reckless and Midna had seen his heroic fervor betray him many times before. "Look at that, you've earned yourself another battle scar. Congratulations," Midna spoke in dull tones, a mask of indifference coating her words in acid. Unfortunately, they were poorly timed, as a creature Midna could barely describe as a wolf toppled over at the treeline. He looked like he'd been mauled by the bear, but its scent wasn't on him. No, when Midna assessed his olfactory profile, she found Eureka's in the mix. "Ocean, Azaelia... Eureka, Draco." He didn't know. Midna felt a strange pull in her chest followed instantly by a glass-like shatter. Midna wasn't an animated speaker, emotion rarely lining her voice, making her the best candidate to break the news to... Luke was his name. "Draco isn't here... at the moment." Her voice trailed. "Eureka is at the commons. Let's get you to her." As she spoke to his delirium, guilt festered in her heart like never before, and she began to realize that the truth wasn't always necessary. Not at all times. Luke looked like a single strike at his spirit would shut his remaining eye forever. Midna wouldn't earn much favor from the alpha if she returned her brother's dead body to her. She turned towards the commons, finding Link with Nevermore. That poor salutary had her work cut out for her today. Perhaps it was time Midna learned a thing or two about herbalism to take some of the responsibility off. -Exit to Commons- El, Link, Aura, Rory, Nevermore, Blue, Tomlin, Red, Zelda, Luke,
