It felt like they hadn't spent any time away from Somnus at all. Everything still looked the same upon their approach, every detail of these borders being etched into the back of her brain after her time spent as a Sentinel had caused her to almost spend more time surveying the borders than she did amongst the company of her pack. She would never claim it to be unrewarding, though it was nothing compared to the time she had spent away from Somnus with her mate and all twelve of their children. Having their two litters only six months apart, it had been overwhelming having to watch that many pups while still trying to contribute to their pack. It was for the best that they had set out on their own for the time that they did. It gave the two parents time to focus on their own. Make sure that their older pups were getting the training they needed before they help pass on that fresh knowledge to their younger siblings once they were old enough. It was only a couple of months after their last two pups, Hecate and Ares, decided they were finally comfortable with setting out on their own that Aelin and Draco finally felt it was time to return to Somnus and focus themselves once more on the pack they owed so much to. Aelin almost felt nervous upon their approach, though she knew without a doubt that Eureka would welcome them back with open arms, she could help but feel anxious to meet all the potential new faces that would have inevitably come to call Somnus home during their absence. "Do you think they've kept our den for us?" Aelin mused as she walked shoulder to shoulder with her mate...or more like shoulder to knee as Draco's height never ceased to dwarf her. "It would be odd sleeping in that big den without the twelve pups to take up all that space, maybe you'll have enough room to finally stretch your giant legs." She continued with a lilting laugh as she looked up to her partner. Her heart would always fill with warmth looking at him like this. Aelin knew she was lucky to have someone like him by her side, he may act all tough and unbreakable with everyone else, but she knew what he was really like. Those moments when they were alone, when he'd look at her like it was the first time he'd laid his eyes on her, the way he said her name like it was something to be treasured, and how he would so gently coo at their newborns and praise Aelin for the strength it took her to bless their lives with all twelve of them. This man was hewn from granite with a core of pure molten gold. It was always hard to pull Aelin from these sickeningly sweet thoughts, but it was a scent on the wind and a broken voice in the distance that stirred her into action, nearly giving herself whiplash as she looked to where these scents and sounds seemed to be coming from. "Is that..." her gait widened, quickened, became rushed as she saw a familiar figured collapsed on the ground in the distance. "Luke!"The wolves that surrounded him looked vaguely familiar, knowing that they were probably faces from the past that had been changed by time. Though it was nothing she would linger on for too long, her friend was injured. The group had begun trying to move him towards the Commons where it would be safer for him to rest. Aelin prayed they had a Salutary within their ranks currently. She could still recall some of the lessons her mother had taught her during her youth, but they needed someone with prepared stocks of herbs and perhaps a little bit more experience in dealing with what looked to be a broken bone that had healed horribly wrong. Aelin was over the moon to see Draco's brother back with them again, though her heart ached to have him returned in such a poor condition. This wasn't exactly how she was expecting their return to start. -- Exit to: Somnus Common Grounds -- Draco

[nospaces][googlefont="Gotu:700,400"][googlefont="Rubik Distressed:700,400"] | [attr="class","main"]The breeze that ruffled his fur was welcomed as they walked. Everything was still ever familiar to the large beast that walked alongside the petite white she-wolf next to him. The visage of his home, one that had been ingrained in him since he had first opened his eyes and began walking, brought a warm comfort to his chest as he stared out upon the vast territory. The oaken male had left for the future of his family. Twelve pups was quite a lot to have in just one pack and while he would have loved to keep all of his children close, he knew their time would come that they would need to branch out and make their own lives. Somnus could not afford to feed that many mouths when the number of pups outweighed the number of available adults to hunt. And thus, Draco and Aelin had left with their horde of children in an attempt to ease the pack’s needs. [break][break] Each pup had departed once they were yearlings. Their first litter had done so first. Daenerys had left first, venturing to find her own calling. She’d never been one to mingle too much with her siblings. Jaime and Cersei had left soon after her together, the two had always been close since they were little and it made sense that they were going to find their future lives together. Benjen, Oberyn and Arya had left as their last of their eldest litter, Arya having a close relationship with her two elder brothers and not wanting either of them to separate even if they argued constantly. It had been tough, letting his pups go to places unknown, but he had made sure they’d made it safely to whatever destination they were inclined. He would do that for anyone in his family, even if he wished they would stay. [break][break] Their youngest litter had been different, most of them had set out on their own, not taking any of their siblings with him. The hardest goodbyes were the last one. Ares had been so close with his mother, always a little shadow that could never be replaced. Hecate had been the same with him, but with the departure of his last son and daughter, they decided it was finally time to head back to their own home. Their work was done and their pups had found their lives that they wished to live. He listened to her comment and gave a snort. “I’m sure they have. Eureka would for whenever we would come back I’m sure,” He gruffly said before giving another snort and nudging Aelin’s neck playfully. “I may be able to stretch out now but knowing you, you’ll still take up half the den,” He snickered, larger head shaking playfully as his tail just slightly wagged. [break][break] To others, Draco was a brute. A hot-tempered, ill-mannered and domineering wolf. But for Aelin he was nothing but putty in her paws. She brought out a soft side to him that no one else could - besides his children of course - and it was often in the dark or depths of their den that this softer Draco was ever brought forward. In the presence of others he contained himself to some extent, knowing that some would laugh at his grumpy exterior melting away. But that was what made the moments that were only lit by the dim light of the moon ever special for the two of them. [break][break] As they traveled forward, there was a scent that caught Draco’s attention immediately and knocked him from his lovesick stupor as his ears were immediately alert and forward, tail raised ever slightly in the air as olive eyes found the visage of his brother, on the ground completely mangled. There were other wolves around him, ones that he recognized and some that looked familiar but he had only seen them before when they were younger, still pups learning to walk and talk. He was immediately stepping forward and without a second thought his mouth was on his brother’s scruff, grabbing a hold of him and lifting his smaller brother like he had when they were pups. It was easy considering the difference in size the two had. It made it easy for Draco to carry almost anyone in the pack besides Ocean. He didn’t say anything, far too concerned in getting his brother the help he needed. [break][break] -Exit to Somnus Common Grounds-

The arrival of a few more wolves, cut Rory's light slumber very short. A few words were exchanged before one of the wolves, a large male, grabbed another fully grown wolf like it was merely a pup, and went off behind the small train forming. The line of wolves seemed to be moving to the commons of the pack land if she had heard right. Slowly moving herself to a standing position, she was careful to not disturb her bois too much. Though in the end, they did protest a little from the sudden lack of warmth. Licking them lightly to reassure them, she felt them try to wiggle closer to her paws. Before she had dozed off, she had noticed that Blue was gazing fondly at her pups along with Aura, whose obvious expression of awe and surprise made Rory want to laugh. after all, she didn't even think the pups would be born in the middle of a bear fight. What a story she would have to tell her sons. "Aura, Blue. Would either of you mind carrying the boys for me while we go back to the commons?" Given their previous reactions to the pups, she didn't think they would be bothered by doing Rory such a favor. If they were for some reason suddenly hostile, Rory, though sadly, would protect her pups before her newfound friends, even if that meant she had to kill them. Though if they didn't feel like carrying the pups, Rory would just grab them herself before following the other wolves back to wherever the commons happened to be.

At this point, Aura had no clue what was going on. There was so much commotion. At this point, the border was crowded with wolves, as more and more pack wolves came to investigate the commotion. And Rory wanted to sleep during this? Was that even possible? And here, of all places. Was the mother asking to get killed? Because part of Aura was getting so irritated, she might just grant that wish. She never asked for any of this. This was what she got for helping? As Rory lied down, another wolf who was grievously injured showed up. And apparently he had been missing, judging by everyone's reactions. Well clearly he wasn't missing now. He was just another addition to the chaos and her ever growing headache. As if things couldn't get more hectic, apparently they were on the move again. One of the wolves hauled One-Eye off his ass, dragging his tail along to presumably their common grounds, where the others had begun to trail too as well. And Rory asked her to carry a pup, apparently expecting her to come along. It was safe to go now, the bear was gone. She could leave fish bait and her pups behind, and never look back. So why the hell was she grabbing a pup? Why was she still here? Why was she still following them? Why was she her own worst enemy? -Exit to Common Grounds- Rory, Blue

Red's compliment was an honor to Zelda, but she was also taken aback by it. Zelda didn't recall being a leader at all, but maybe her perception of leadership was wrong. It wasn't a skill like hunting, one which you can practice every day and receive gratification for improvement overnight. Leadership was a quality that's innate, but fine-tuned in someone over time through experience. Zelda had failed today, to show up in time to stop her brother from getting injured, but Red's comment had her realizing that those weren't circumstances Zelda was expected to control, but to respond to effectively. Zelda pondered these things quietly until her senses were overcome by yet another creature crossing the treeline.
Not a creature. It was an uncle. Uncle Luke!
Midna had taken the unusually empathetic responsibility of speaking to him first. Zelda was worried of what she might say, her forwardness not always a beacon of light in heavy situations like these. But Midna fared well, maintaining her icy composure yet composing the right words. Shortly after turning around, an enormous figure stepped through the treeline, a frame akin to her father's, and one she knew well. It was Draco, and dwarfed beside him was his mate, Aelin. Zelda knew they'd come home someday, and the smitten looks on their faces indicated they were happy to be here. Good! Zelda was growing fatigued by all the bad news encroaching on the borders. But it was time to let the alpha give her address to it all. She was curious what would happen to the rogues, to those pups, but as distance began obscuring bodies as they disappeared into the commons, Zelda became more concerned with getting her brother to safety.

As his lesser self took host of his mind and body, Its rage permeating every inch of him from his rapid breath to the violent clamp of his jaw on the bear's muscle, El waited behind the curtains patiently, knowing that at any time he wanted he could take the stage. This wasn't always the case, though. In years past, El had little control over himself. He had only greedy instincts that masqueraded as virtues, like protect my sisters, and the illusion of virtue is what prevented him from overcoming the root of the problem.
He put so much energy, violent, resentful, guilty energy into preventing his sisters from experiencing harm. But upon taking into his heart the truth of their suffering as real as it was from their time of birth his soul was educated. Traumatic as it was initially, as he had to let go of the holistic unity between them he'd wired into his whole identity, the process of accepting his sisters' experiences as their own and his in the same fashion taught him to combat the vulnerable side of his survivalist alter.
Zelda's voice was his call to action, his name on her lips his cue to return, so El stepped through and silently thanked It for Its performance, patting Its back as It exited stage left. An applause sounded his internal voice hall when Blue circled him. He hated her inspection, having to stay still when he wanted to run off and glomp her lovingly, and did so as soon as he had the chance. I love you I love you I love you!
Their union was brief, cut short by something El could only describe as divine intervention. Both of Eureka's brothers had come home.

The newly named Tomlin let out a tiny cry. Because what wasn't there to cry about? He was just given the laziest naming ever. His mother decided she wanted a nap, at the worst time possible, and chose sleep over a proper naming. So she just chose two extremely similar names. She better hope that she has a good explanation when the boys are old enough to ask the reason behind their names. Or that they don't ask at all. It is so not right to choose sleep over naming your two newborn sons.
But onto the real reason he let out a cry. Because it had nothing to do with the name. He didn't even hear the naming, he was just born, his ears are still closed. And truth be told, he probably wouldn't care about his name of all things. There would be more to worry about.
No, his concern was the fact that all of a sudden he could not feel the ground under his paws anymore. He was dangling in the air, hanging by the jaws of a wolf that smelled nothing like his mother. He was so not happy.
The moment he was put down, this wolf would be in a world of hurt. If he even remembered being carried. Right now, he was simply going to have to settle doing damage to the ears.

The approach of a black wolf that looked strikingly like her father made Luke look up with hope, but it seemed the strength he had for the past couple months had finally slipped from his grasp as he felt his own head growing fuzzy. He listened to her words, her voice being unrecognizable as she spoke of his brother and sister. He wondered where Draco was, where the large brute of a brother he had would be other than helping with the pack. As he went to pick himself up, the familiar scent of his brother wafted over his nose and he felt teeth digging into his scruff gently. The smaller oaken male tried looking back but he felt his own body starting to give up as he closed his eye, letting Draco completely carry him as he went basically limp, not doing much other than just dangling from his brother’s jaws. It seemed that the reunion he had hoped for long ago would not be quite the one he planned, but he was finally home.

Two full moons passed before Wren found herself on Somnus' borders once more. Her memory wasn't what it once was, and the blustering winter weather covering the lands in white certainly didn't help. But now, at last, the borders of Somnus loomed before her. The deer she ate during her short stay in Noctis was the most fulfilling thing she had eaten in a while, and unfortunately, it made a diet of meagre rodents and the odd bird quite miserable. In the morning air, her breath puffed before her. It was chilly, but she had hopes that soon some in-law reunions could warm her up. That is, if they even still lived in this area. Eureka and Draco, along with his mate Aelin, had been visited by the pair only once before. Shortly after they announced their mateship, Luke was so excited to introduce her to his family that they left the pack in capable paws for a couple weeks while they visited. That was years ago now, and if they were even still here was a huge question mark. There was only one way to find out. Tilting her head back, Wren released a long, confident howl towards the commons. She didn't feel like getting her rump cold, so she stayed standing for the time being. All there was left to do now was remain hopeful. Draco

[nospaces][googlefont="Gotu:700,400"][googlefont="Rubik Distressed:700,400"] | [attr="class","main"]Due to what Draco discovered in the common grounds, he wasn't in the most pleasant moods. If he were being honest, he was in quite a foul mood now compared to the jovial one he had been in prior to discovering his brother passed out on the floor of his sister's den. Making his pace brisk, he found himself at the borders quickly, and looked for the silhouette of a figure that his brother had thought he'd long lost. Luke had always had a bad string of luck when it came to partners. Fire had been his first love, and she had disappeared on him as quickly as they had fallen in love. Seven had become his mate and bore him pups before their inevitable fall out. But Wren. Wren had been the steadfast love that Luke had needed his entire life. She had been the rock to keep him going, and everything Luke had ever needed. [break][break] She had been a kind and patient soul when it came to helping Luke raise not only his pups that were not her own by blood, but also help grow a pack that had been bare bones when they had first joined. And now, after many months of Luke thinking that he had lost her, she was standing at their borders. "Wren," He called her name, trying to keep his tone level. He didn't want to give anything away, especially not when her mate was currently laying in their sister's den potentially having fallen ill again. How was he to tell her that he had been gravely injured beyond repair of the salutary, and had gained an illness no one knew about in Somnus? "You have quite the timing," He told her.

Her name being called over the wind as a truly giant wolf approached made her heart soar. There was only one wolf she had ever seen that was quite so large, and that was Draco. As he came closer into view, she confirmed that indeed, her brother-in-law was the one meeting her on the borders. Hopefully, that meant Eureka was still with Somnus too! "You have quite the timing," he relayed as he drew closer. Though Draco lacked the orange tinge that glowed in her mate's fur, his appearance was so similar to his brothers that for a second, she could almost swear she could smell Luke's scent coming off of him. "Is something happening?" She asked inquisitively, head tilting slightly to the side before righting itself again, "I just made my way back to Noctis after all these moons. I figured if life could come back to us then maybe it would still be here with Somnus too. I can't tell you how happy I am to see you. Believe it or not, Makoto and Haruka showed up to Noctis at the same time I did, and they reignited my hope that Luke might still be out there somewhere. I thought maybe he would have come back to his first home here. Nevertheless, I came hoping for a visit, would that be alright?" Her tail swung behind her in gentle happiness. Since the last time she had seen Draco, her life had been turned completely upside down not only once, but twice. She clung to the core aspects of her being, and rebuilt herself. She hoped that he could still recognise her, so that she could tell for sure if she had actually survived the tragedies that had plagued her life. Draco

[nospaces][googlefont="Gotu:700,400"][googlefont="Rubik Distressed:700,400"] | [attr="class","main"]Of course she was ever inquisitive. Draco could not remember there being a time when Wren was not. She was much like Luke and the two balanced each other so well. She was everything he could hope for in the mate of his brother, and Luke was lucky to have her. And Luke desperately needed her right now, that was what he knew as the gargantuan Alpha stared towards the mate of his brother and listened as she spoke of where she had been. Since he had been gone from the territory, off in the mountainous regions with his own little family, he had not been paying attention to anything that had been happening and didn’t know of the flood that had swept through the territory. But now thinking of how Luke had pulled himself to the borders in such a ragged state, with how his leg and eye were far beyond repair, everything seemed to make sense as he listened to Wren. [break][break] “I didn’t realize that you all had been in danger,” He said, gruff tone tinged with sorrow for once again not being there for one of his siblings like he should have been. “But I’m glad to hear that you three are alive and healthy and have returned. I’m sure the Noctis lands welcomed you back,” He said to her, unsure of what had become of the neighboring pack. He’d had yet to ask Eureka about that matter. He knew that when Luke ruled the pack that they had good relations, but now that he did not, he didn’t know where they stood. “Of course you can come visit,” He told her, gesturing for her to join him across the borders. [break][break] But there was the stifling truth that lay in weight for her in the commons. “Luke is here,” He told her. “He came to the borders roughly two months ago before winter laid claim to the land,” He started. “But he was in horrible shape. His leg was completely broken and torn. His eye was completely missing. And now,” He stopped, giving a small sigh before continuing. “He fell unconscious in the commons before I came to retrieve you. He is being tended to by the rest of the pack members,” He looked down towards her. “But he needs you,” The large Alpha said, before starting towards the common grounds, large strides quick so he would get there faster.

"I didn't realize that you all had been in danger," the gruff voice of her brother-in-law was tinged with more sadness than she expected. He didn't look too worse for wear. Of course, both of them had aged as time trickled past, but at the least, he seemed healthy. Hopefully, Aelin and his children had the same fate. She smiled as he mentioned his nephews, and smiled even brighter when he invited her to visit. "Luke is here," the start of Draco's sentence was enough to cause her tail to swing so enthusiastically it could have lifted her off the ground. Her smile could have melted the snow with how bright it was - it was as if the sun itself had landed on earth. "He came to the borders roughly two months ago before winter laid claim to the land," Draco continued, his tone shifting causing Wren's smile to falter slightly, "But he was in horrible shape. His leg was completely broken and torn. His eye was completely missing. And now..." the pause in his speech gave the former Noctis Alphess just the briefest of moments to process the emotional whiplash of the news. Her mate, alive but ripped to shreds. What had happened to him? Where had he been all these moons that lead to him not only breaking a leg but losing an eye entirely? He was alive. Luke was alive and he was only a short distance away in the commons. She had to cling to that fact to keep her heart from sinking through her paws. There was more news coming, and she only had a moment to brace herself. "He fell unconscious in the commons before I came to retrieve you. He is being tended to by the rest of the pack members, but he needs you," the finality of Draco's words was everything she dreaded. For two months he had been conscious, in poor health, but awake. Now, just at the moment she had finally found him again, he was back to being on the brink of death. There weren't words to express the deep roaring of unsettling dread that boomed through her ears with each heartbeat. She only nodded to the giant before following him quickly. She wanted to sprint to the commons, push her muscles past the point of screaming until she could see her mate once more, but there was no way she could navigate her way to the commons. Everything had changed since the last time she had been here, especially with the unwelcoming blanket of snow. The best she could do was follow Draco's every step, the towering male's strides met by nearly two of her own as she bounded to the common grounds. Draco -Exit to: Somnus Common Grounds-
