Cecilia led the group past the treeline and into the valley. There she stopped and took a moment to breath in the beauty around her. After being here pretty much all her life, the beauty of the hunting ground still left her speechless. Taking a moment for everyone to gather and view the area, just as she was. Finally she turned to address everyone, but not before looking to Ebony and motioning him to step beside her. She was going to give the responsibility of addressing the group after she was done. " This is our hunting grounds," she motioned with her head to the land around them, " We have plenty of large and small game here, but we treat our home with care and do not over induldge ourselves on the food here, there is plenty to go around and we will never be in fear of starving." Glancing towards the tree-lines, "In time, if you are accepted, you will learn the layout just as we have, and will be able to track the prey here as if you knew their paths like the back of your paw." Turning to Ebony, " Now, Ebony will give you your instructions on how he wants this hunt handled, and remember, while you may get to dine from what we kill today, if your successful, this is our way of testing you, keep that in mind." What a leader Cecilia had become. She had become strong in body and in mind, she his world and he her anchor. Love is something he began to learn from Blue Rose before the flood swept her away. It was a little seed she planted in him that never fully fruited in Ebony's heart until it was watered with anguish. One who cannot hate, cannot love either––maybe things really had changed more than he thought. For better or for worse, when he looked at Cecilia's beckoning gaze and commanding presence, he loved her. Obliging her with a raise of his brows, Ebony trotted to her side. "I suppose I will." He said, sitting down next to Cecilia, their humble hues collecting together to form a quiet trench between their scruffs. "I've been tracking a moose in our territory for a few days. He's a crepuscular creature, so he would be winding down right about now just beyond this treeline." Ebony spoke in straight tone, only sharing the facts he knew, and he knew this land and its inhabitants like no other. Tracking was his skill. He'd been used for it, discarded for it, but now, it was his own unspendable token of esteem. "I've prompted him a few times but he doesn't tend to move very far. When he does, he is encumbered by his large antlers. I believe this moose is quite old, making him a good target for our endeavors."Ebony stepped out of the treeline and into a shady dell. He was correct to anticipate the moose would be taking a break from his twilight activities. It stood resting beneath an alder tree grazing in the tall grass. As his lifted his head to meet Ebony's careful watch, his head tilted from side to side, trying to sustain the weight of his flat, thick horns. Ebony raised his ears, warning the moose. Ebony rarely employed an element of surprise. The air of fear that a wolf's presence heaped onto prey mammals made it much easier to test them. In this case, it took many days for Ebony to learn this moose's weakness. Such patient diligence could be the difference between life and death with a commonly aggressive beast. "We are going to play with him for a while. Follow me, but do not get in front of me" he said as his neck lowered to the ground and his feet left the soil. He trotted forward, his feet taking fifteen steps to the left and then fifteen steps to the right. The moose picked up its feet, stamping its feet on the ground, alerting Ebony that his headway was known. As he suspected, his movements were slow. He was in a state of confusion, not sure if he could run, not sure if he could fight. His body began to turn the other way. "He's getting ready to run. A little closer, and we'll begin the chase. Once we do, it's very important that we stay close together. We need to lacerate the muscles of his rear side to gradually slow him down. Once he does, wait for my cue for further instructions." Ebony intended for the moose to get overwhelmed by the attacks at its rear, allowing the smaller, faster wolves of the hunting group to overtake his front side and attack his large, sensitive nose. But Ebony wouldn't be able to assign wolves to a final formation until he saw all them on the ground, assessed their strength and speed, and calculated the moose's response. The moose was gaining speed and heading north, slightly uphill. "Now! Go for the rear!" With haste, Ebony stretched his limbs. His running muscles kicked into gear, excited for the task. Ebony liked to work for his rewards, and the adrenaline pushed him to run at top speed for miles if he needed to. This was in his blood. In a few minutes, he was at the moose's rear, and without hesitation he assigned his jaw to them. The moose slowed only long enough to extend its leg back in an attempt to kick Ebony off, but he anticipated as much. His claws were seated deep in the muscle, providing enough support to quickly move his body to the side and out of the way. The curl of his body and tuck of his hind legs were also important factors in avoiding injury. He hoped his example would aide the others, for as the grip of his fangs naturally weakened and his legs returned to their chase, he fell behind a few of the other wolves. Whoever was the fastest would be immediately behind him, and it would be their turn to mimic Ebony's attack. Cecilia Clover , Iris , Quill , Euphoria , Mayerthu

Mayerthu followed silently. Her crooked ear flicking every now and then from some invisible stimulus. She liked the way the she-wolf carried herself, she was a pretty thing in Mayerthu's eyes. She glanced at the male trotting alongside them, always watching the movements of those around her. He was a pretty thing to Mayerthu as well. She turned her head away fluffing her smokey coat as she shook herself slightly. She was not used to being around so many wolves. Having been guided past the river with the intentions of hunting Mayerthu grew increasingly calm. She wasn't the fastest runner so usually she relied on her own wit to catch her prey. However in such circumstances as these she was unsure of how she would function but she knew she needed to keep her head on straight, her getting worked up and excited would only impair her. She watched intently as the lady spoke to her and all the other wolves that had come along on this brief adventure through the woods. "What a lovely trek this has been" She sang softly in her head. "This is our hunting grounds we have plenty of large and small game here, but we treat our home with care and do not overindulge ourselves on the food here, there is plenty to go around, and we will never be in fear of starving.""Starving" the word echoed in her mind, and she felt... strange. Flashes of a memory sparked through her head... A large brown wolf towered over her his lips curled into a menacing snarl he started creeping closer and she shivered in fear. Her mother's lifeless form was slightly on top of her where she had fallen after the male had bitten into her mother's throat moments before...Mayerthu stopped moving and lowered her ears ever so slightly. "Silence" She thought to herself and quickly regained her composure, only a second had passed and she hoped that everyone had been too focused on the speech to notice her slight wince. She watched the black male once more pushing the memories from her head. She took note of the expression in his gaze as he looked upon the female who had been leading them, and Mayerthu felt happy for him, the male was clearly stricken with her. She watched as Cecilia allowed Ebony to take control of the hunting situation so that he could explain his desires from the wolves before him. His explanation of what they were to be hunting seemed off to her as she had never actually seen a moose before but given that the prey is older, she hoped it would be a fun endeavor and not one that would leave a group of wolves angry with her. And as such she followed Ebony's lead as he continued to speak of the moose, saying they were to play with it for a bit before killing it. The male made it clear to not pass him, so she had no intention of getting in the way, rather, she hoped to be useful. "He's getting ready to run. A little closer, and we'll begin the chase..." Mayerthu grinned as she held her body ready to sprint. She would need to make good use of her limited energy of course. "Now! Go for the rear!" she heard the male exclaim as he launched himself after their quarry. She sprung after him easily, she never considered herself fast before, but seeing as how she was gaining on the male the realization occurred to her that living in isolation, she had never raced any other wolves. "What fun we have in the light of our friends" Her thoughts sang to her again. She watched Ebony eat that ass and after he did some damage, he fell back behind a few of them. "It's now or never" She muttered as she braced her weight on her right forepaw as she dug into the ground trying her best to repeat what she had seen. Her jaws closed around the flesh of the moose's haunch, and she jerked her head with a growl. However, her inexperience showed, and she had to release quickly so she could roll out of the way of the others as she lost her footing for a moment. Leaping back to her paws she sprinted to catch back up to the others. Cecilia , Ebony , Iris , Clover Euphoria , Quill

At long last, the tour was winding to a close. Quill could have guessed their location by the swelling scent of larger game, but that didn’t stop him from nodding along to Cecilia’s explanation. Thankfully, the deadly sin that dogged his pawsteps was sloth, not gluttony— there was no need to fear overindulgence from him. With a final reminder of the test to come, the pale-furred wolf passed the torch to Ebony; it seemed that though she led the tour, the brute would lead the hunt. In the brief moments before the male started speaking, he let his gaze slide over the gathered wolves; saw Mayerthu give the subtlest of winces. He made no indication that he had noticed, his maw splitting wide to make way for a massive yawn, the force of which was enough to make his jaw crack. It was clear that the female didn’t want to draw attention to the small slip, and he wasn’t in the business of making people uncomfortable. He held idle curiosity at its cause, but not enough to distract him from Ebony’s words. It could be difficult to discern when Quill’s interest was sparked, his eyes perpetually half-lidded and friendly countenance usually holding a small smile. But a keen wolf would see the glint of attentiveness in his pale silver eyes at the mention of a moose; game like that was far too large for just he and his sisters to handle. They usually aimed for more manageable prey: warthogs, or the occasional doe. This would be something new, and it was almost enough to set Quill’s blood to stirring. Almost. He took in the facts as they were presented to him. Old, tired, encumbered. All made up an equation that suggested a favorable outcome. The male swept his tongue along the sharp line of his incisors, just a flash of fang to hint at his hunger before the weapons were hidden behind a close-lipped smile once more. It was convenient that Ebony had already selected and tracked their prey; it saved them a great deal of work, which was a surefire way to earn Quill’s amiability. All that was left was to kill the thing. He followed contentedly behind Ebony, his siblings at his side. His smooth, unhindered trot appeared to be more suited to an evening stroll than a hunt, but his sisters would see the telltale tension in his shoulders, the stiffness of his tail that suggested he was far more alert than he appeared. As the moose indicated it’s awareness of their advance, stomping its sharp hooves into the dirt, Quill snapped his own jaws in response. It was the same song and dance, just with a far larger quarry. In another life he might have enjoyed the hunt, but his laziness meant that he wanted to get it over with sooner rather than later. When Ebony gave the signal, Quill lengthened his stride to a lope, conserving his speed for the second bout of attacks. The black wolf took the lead, first to draw blood from the fleeing moose with Mayerthu soon to follow. He winced sympathetically when she took a tumble, but at least she had wounded it— and got up again soon after. With a low yip of signal, he and his sisters transitioned simultaneously into a sprint like a well-oiled machine, flawless teamwork honed through years of watching one another’s backs. He knew his role in this, and his sisters undoubtedly knew theirs. As he came up along the great beast’s left haunch, Quill released a low, booming snarl, the likes of which were entirely intended to draw the moose’s attention to him rather than Clover or Iris. He was a blunt battering ram, and bearing the beast’s awareness would allow his sisters to take full advantage of its distraction. Only after they made their own attacks would he lunge for the muscled haunch, flesh ripping audibly beneath his teeth as he latched down and went deadweight, allowing gravity to deal greater damage than his own strength could. As his jaw weakened, he released, rolling once, twice across the ground before leaping to his paws and shaking the dirt fiercely from his ruff. ”At least the grass cushions the fall, yeah?” He barked companionably over to Mayerthu before falling back in line with Clover and Iris, ready to attack again if required. But damn, it had been tempting to just stay down after that fall. This was tiring. Mayerthu Ebony Cecilia Iris Clover Euphoria

A moose. That was.... A lot larger prey than Iris herself was used too. Sure, having her siblings made it easier to hunt more than tiny rabbits, but a moose? On their own, that would be a death sentence. But then again, they weren't on their own. They had a whole pack, or what could become a pack. And with this many wolves, while it was not void of danger, Iris felt confident in what they could do. And so they took off. Iris trailed behind Ebony, excitement shining in her eyes. To be hunting like this again, with so many wolves backing her up, it was amazing. And then Quill gave the signal. And like clockwork, the three siblings sprinted beside one another, as if operating on a singular mind. And in a way, they were. Quill went to one side, drawing the moose's attention, and Iris went up to the right side. She would latch her teeth on the flank momentarily, before drawing back, giving Clover an opening. And then Quill made his attack. Although he chose to hang onto the moose, rather than give a quick bite like she had. He was going for more damage than she could do, but that put him at more risk, and she watched as he rolled to the ground. Luckily, though, he seemed unharmed, quickly rejoining the chase. And so Iris followed, waiting for her next opening. Cecilia , Ebony , Mayerthu , Quill , Clover, Euphoria

Euphoria maintained a steady pace the entire trek, staying close to the middle of the group while she surveyed the land they passed. The tree line broke into a larger river, known as the Forest River, and as they crossed through its heavy currents she found herself fighting to make it through without being swept away. She had never really swam much since leaving her mother, so this was one of the first times she had experienced how strong and dangerous the undercurrents of rivers actually were. It certainly took her by surprise, but she still managed to make it through safely. From that point onward, the terrain was more manageable as they explored the rolling hills that followed. The large group finally emerged through the forest, revealing a stunning valley of greenery and wildflowers. Euphoria savored the warm sunlight that graced her pelt, and closing her eyes she took a deep breath in satisfaction. The grass smelled so fresh, and the area was teaming with life all around them. As birds flew overhead, singing their wonderful songs, the she-wolf opened her eyes to finally focus back onto Cecilia, who was preparing to address them. In all honesty she wished for nothing more than to frolic in the fields independently and chase after butterflies; not preparing for a very serious assessment of skills. There was mention of a hunt that would be taking place soon, giving her an uneasy feeling in her stomach. The largest game she had ever managed to catch on her own was a small sleeping turkey, and she had an advantage due to the rain that showered them and masked her approaching scent. If the rogues were tasked with hunting their own individual prey, Euphoria may prove some strength. On the contrary, her mother was already too ill by the time she was old enough to start learning to hunt, and therefore big game was never her strong suit. She had never even hunted with a team before either, aiming on one target together. " This is our hunting grounds," stated the pretty white lupine, gesturing to the valley before them. " We have plenty of large and small game here, but we treat our home with care and do not over indulge ourselves on the food here, there is plenty to go around and we will never be in fear of starving." she continued, a sense of comforting certainty hinting in her tone. Knowing that prey was abundant here was relieving, as Euphoria had encountered way too many nights of burning hunger. She noted to herself that if she were accepted into Lubrusca, she would have to contain her appetite and the habit she had developed of hoarding as much food as she could. As a rogue, it was important to devour every meal she came across, with the constant fear that it could very well be days before she found the opportunity again. But here, well, she had never known a life of plentiful game at her disposal, at least not since she was a pup and still relying on her mother for every meal. " Now, Ebony will give you your instructions on how he wants this hunt handled, and remember, while you may get to dine from what we kill today, if your successful, this is our way of testing you, keep that in mind." Cecilia turned her attention to the dark male who had taken his place next to her. Euphoria swallowed as her statement rang in her head for a moment. Yes, she would undoubtedly get a decent meal out of the whole ordeal.. but if she wasn't skilled enough overall? The lupine shook the worry from her thoughts, trying to focus her attention on the details of this hunt. " I've been tracking a moose in our territory for a few days. He's a crepuscular creature, so he would be winding down right about now just beyond this treeline." Ebony chimed finally. Euphoria couldn't stifle the nervous swivel of her ears as he spoke. Of all prey in the area, a moose was their test?! They surely were not going easy on the rogues. " I've prompted him a few times but he doesn't tend to move very far. When he does, he is encumbered by his large antlers. I believe this moose is quite old, making him a good target for our endeavors." While hunting an 'old' moose seemed slightly more reasonable, this information wasn't enough to shake her of her fears. The other rogues that had accompanied them were all older than her by over a year at least. How was she to prove her worth to these pack wolves with a group of experienced and conditioned competitors. Usually, Euphoria enjoyed a good competition, but at the moment her anxiety truly clung to her. Ebony signaled for them all to follow behind him, and like that the hunt had started. In the distance, her hues finally narrowed on the large beast who was, at this point, well aware of the wolves and paying close attention to their movements. The moose stomped its feet angerly, making any attempt to scare off the predators that stalked it. It was usually in this moment that Euphoria would choose to flee, but that was not an option today. Their formation went from left to right, and then slowing as Ebony expressed his final tips of advice. " He's getting ready to run. A little closer, and we'll begin the chase. Once we do, it's very important that we stay close together. We need to lacerate the muscles of his rear side to gradually slow him down. Once he does, wait for my cue for further instructions." Euphoria listened carefully as she crouched in preparation, ears pinned back nervously but determination apparent in her expression. Moments later, the beast turned tail and took off, and with that Ebony's cue propelled her legs forward. Within a few minutes the group was only a few feet away from the large animal, ground trembling beneath her paws as its hooves beat desperately into the ground. This was all so intimidating, but at the same time the she-wolf found solace in the teamwork that was in play, as well as in Ebony's first example on how to properly attack. Following the brutes example, Mayerthu sped up and launched herself in a similar way, biting at its haunch before tumbling to the ground. The three siblings had an unspoken trust between each other as they barreled forward in their own formation. Their actions were admirable, making Euphoria wish she also had siblings to look up to. Euphoria was already feeling the wave of exhaustion coming in as her muscles burned through every stride. Now was her best chance to make a move, and so gathering all of her strength she raced infront of the other wolves, eyes searching for the best vantage point for a being as small as her. Her heart raced as she came up on the moose's left flank, and with all of her force she sprung up towards the bleeding wound placed by the others. Her teeth sunk in easily, but she found it hard to keep a firm hold as the beast jostled about. She tucked her legs just as she had seen Ebony doing, using her limbs to push off of the moose in an attempt to tear further at the wound. As it bellowed out in pain, the moose kicked its legs out forcefully, sending the lupine off into the air as she lost her grip. Her small body hit the ground with such force she would've though the breath was knocked out of her. Apart from the impact of the ground, though, she remained generally unharmed. The others raced beyond her, snapping her mind back into action as she sprung forward, fighting to keep up with them. Ebony , Cecilia , Mayerthu , Quill , Iris , Clover

After Cecelia finished her tour around the territory, Clover couldn't help but feel relieved. It wasn't that she found it annoying, but she wanted to get accepted quickly, so she knew her siblings would be safe as soon as possible. Shortly after, Ebony stood in front of them and explained to the rogues that they would be hunting a moose. Apparently, he has been tracking this creature for quite some time now, so he knew its whereabouts. Clover gave a haunting smile to her siblings, as she was very excited about this hunt. Yes, they never had the strength or the numbers to take down a whole moose, but with their numbers now, they were sure they would be able to take it down in no time. She followed Ebony with her siblings starting with a fast-paced trot, to reserve the energy for the attacks later on. Hearing Ebony's commands, she nodded and burst out into a sprint. Her strong muscled legs pushed her frame off the ground, and her olive eyes focused on the moose as if nothing existed but the two of them. Ebony went in for the first attack, missing a kick narrowly. Clover mentally noted that he curled his body and tucked in his legs, maybe it will be useful in the future. Mayerthu went second, doing the same thing as Ebon, but her jaws let go of the flesh rather quickly as she too, missed being kicked by a few moments. The sibling trio were now side by side, with Quill being closest to the moose. The triplets have hunted together since birth, so they didn't even need to communicate with each other, they knew their roles and what each one has to do. They worked like a perfect team. Quill snarled at the beast, attracting its attention to himself, allowing Iris and Clover to approach from the other side. Iris launched at the moose, deeply biting into its flesh, before dropping back beside Clover, giving her the chance to attack. She narrowed her eyes, and with great power and a loud growl, she dove at the beast's haunches and sunk her teeth into the already wounded and bleeding flesh. Being older and more skilled, she had a lot of muscle, so with a few sharp tugs, she tore a chunk of meat from the rear of the moose. The moose could be heard groaning in pain before it extended its injured leg and weakly kicked at Clover. Remembering how Ebony managed to escape unharmed, she curled her body and tucked her legs, missing the kick by inches. Clover smiled at the pathetic attempt of the moose at kicking her, as blood steadily dripped down from her muzzle. With a bit of a stumble, she continued running beside her brother and sister, panting intensely. Next, Quill attacked the moose, followed by Euphoria. The red-coated female skillfully bit down on the moose, but she was aggressively flung off with a rather forceful kick. the female was flung in the air and hit the floor with a loud thump. Clover only raised her eyes and let out a slight snort, before turning her head and continuing to follow the moose and the others. Cecilia Ebony Mayerthu Quill Iris Euphoria

Cecilia couldn't read the emotion that displayed on Ebony's face. This wasn't the first time she had seen it either but she still didn't understand it. His facial expression was completely different from the how he looked gazing at the river. The look he gave her though made her feel things, but she didn't know what those things were. As he sat next to her, his pelt brushing along hers, it was the most natural feeling. His touch calmed the remainder of her news and her posture could be visually seen relaxing. The fur that once was on end, flattened out as she leaned ever so slightly into him. With his close presence she knew she was safe and protected, even among strangers. Head angled to where she was giving him her undivided attention, she listened intently to his plans. Ah, the moose he had been telling her about. Nodding to his plan she rose when he did and followed along. Their pace was brisk and the rogues soon fell into line, listening to Ebony and his orders. As the hunt began in full, she stayed close. It would look bad if she decided she had her own plans and lingered back, just to watch them all. This hunt would require everyone of them, including herself. Pushing herself, she waited for an opening. As each one tore into the flesh, she moved to tear into one side, aiming for an area that was torn. Tearing into the already affected area, she could feel the iron coat her tongue and feel her maw as she ripped the area further. The beast bellowed once more, shaking his very injured leg attempting to get her off. Rolling away from the kick and rolling back onto her feet, she raced alongside them all once more. The area she had dug into was now a wide open gash where a chunk of meat flopped about, connected only by some muscle and skin. Cecilia eyed Ebony for further instructions. Soon they would be changing up their tactics as the moose had begun to slow with the onslaught on his hind quarters and the start of blood loss. Ebony, Mayerthu, Quill, Iris, Euphoria, Clover,

Ebony was pleased by the fluidity of the hunt and each wolf's ability not only to coordinate themselves around each other, but to follow Ebony's example without a word spoken from him. Barring any minor flops, as was natural in this situation, it ensured each participant's safety above all else. There would always be an abundance of food available in Lubrusca should the hunt fail, but the reward of a risky maneuver wasn't worth the loss of one's life. No matter, because by the time each runner had gashed the rear of the moose, it had significantly slowed down. Even Euphoria, who took quite a fall and had fallen behind, had caught up to the limping animal just in time for Ebony to commence the next stage of the hunt. As he kicked his legs faster and wrapped around the Moose's long body to its front, he shouted to the rest of the party, "It's time to circle him. We need to cover him completely but leave his rear open or you will injure yourself. Aim for the nose or his flanks. If you stand near his neck he will gut you with his antlers!" As the formation took place, the moose would be forced to come to a complete stop, unable to turn around when his flanks were surrounded and unable to run when his legs had been worn to exhaustion. Standing still gave him significantly more power in his hind legs, so the wolves would need to stay clear of them completely. Facing the front, the moose now had his enormous, aged antlers, which could easily pierce a wolf if they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ebony gave an example of how to attack the face of a moose without being impaled. It required him to stay several feet away from the front of the mammal and trust when a rogue attacked his flank that he would be distracted enough to give Ebony an opening. As soon as he had one, he jumped forward, latching onto the nose. From here, the moose could either rear upwards in an attempt to shake him off or throw him down. This time, it chose the latter, but even as his body was pressed between the earth and the moose's thick nose, sending invigorating pain along his back upon impact, Ebony's jaws latched onto the fatty skin and his claws struck at its eyes relentlessly. When the moose drew its head back up, Ebony took the opportunity to escape before it had the chance to swing its antlers at him, jumping back to his original position and facing the beast head on. With the gashes left at its rear and the muscle being torn at his flanks and face, it wouldn't be long before the beast bled came down. Mayerthu watched the trio attack together seamlessly and she smiled to herself at their teamwork. She felt the wind rushing through her thick dark topcoat and she loved the coolness it brought to her overheating body. Her muscles burning delightfully from the exhilarating hunt. She took notice of the male who had tumbled in a similar fashion as she did... "At least the grass cushions the fall, yeah?"He said to her. It was a simple phrase but enough to make her smile a little. She liked him, but something was different about him. She'd have to investigate that later on but for now it seemed to be fine. Her mind returned to the hunt before her, instinct kicking in, her paws digging into the fresh earth. She could smell the beast's blood ahead of her and a shiver of pleasure rushed over her. She wanted to bite the moose's throat and suffocate it on its own blood, watching the life ebb and flow from its eyes. She shook her head pushing the darkness down. Prey was food, their life has meaning to them just as much as any wolf values their own life. Her thoughts drew concern from a deeper part of herself. "Why am I thinking these things, correct the behavior May." She focused on the wolves around her; she didn't want them hurt because of her inability to think properly, she figured it would be best for someone else to take the kill. Dashing to the side of the moose she nipped at it with a loud growl to draw its attention towards her so the other wolves could have more of an opening. She felt herself searching for Quill momentarily then refocused holding the moose in her honey-colored orbs. "Aight then, which one of you is gonna rip his throat out" She grinned sadistically her joyful bloodlust threading to her maw. Cecilia, Ebony, Quill, Iris, Euphoria, Clover,

I Hold On To This Pride Because These Days, It's All I Have The moose was wearing down, and now had no more energy to run. But it could still fight, and Iris could feel the adrenaline pulsing through her body. The pack, or would-be pack, had spread out, circling the beast. It had nowhere left to go, and everyone knew it. The moose knew it, and the pack knew it. All that was left was to finish it off. Ebony and Mayerthu each sent their own attack. Weakening even further. Meanwhile, Iris moved to one side of its throat, motioning Clover to the other. They could go for each side of the throat, hold it down for as long as they could. With Mayerthu keeping its focus, the two sisters could move in without the moose realizing, and then Quill could go for the kill. It was just like a really big elk after all, right?
With a nod to Clover, Iris gave the signal that she was ready, and lunged forward. One wolf holding its head down would easily get thrown into the air, but with hers and Clover's weight combined, it should be weighed down enough for Quill to make a killing blow. Although she still kept an eye on its hooves. The moose could still kick, and if this tactic was to work, Quill would need to be quick with the blow.

As the wolves attacked one by one, it became evident that the moose was at its breaking point. A few more bites and the giant beast should topple over. Along with the others, Clover started to circle the moose, Ebony and Mayerthu inflicted some more wounds onto its already tearing flesh. Clover was looking at the beast with wild eyes, almost shaking on the spot from the amount of adrenaline that was pumping in her veins, she was ready to attack at any given second. Her olive eyes darted to Iris, who gave her a barely noticeable signal to circle the moose from the other side. She guessed it was because Iris wanted the two of them to go for its throat. She was glad her younger sister was giving out the commands. Surprisingly Clover wasn't even a bit annoyed that her "position" within the trio was being "challenged". They didn't have a leader, but since she was the oldest she took it upon herself to protect her siblings. So she was more than happy to let Quill or Iris do the decision-making, as long as they stayed safe and unharmed.
Shortly after she made her way to the other side of the creature, Iris nodded to her. Clover immediately understood what she was supposed to do and with a ferocious growl she leapt into the air and with extreme force bit down on its neck. With hers and Iris' weight together, the Moose would be leaning forward, allowing Quill to finish it off. While waiting for her brother, Clover made sure to bite as deep as she could, but not deep enough to injure her jaw. Hopefully, soon Quill would've made his attack, as hanging on to the moose proved itself to be harder than she thought. Cecilia Ebony Mayerthu Quill Iris Euphoria

The lupine shot forward, straining to keep up with the group after her little fall. One of the siblings, Clover, made a quiet snort in her failure, but Euphoria chose to ignore her rhetoric and pedal on. Now was not the time to let her frustration get the better of her, and anyways, she wasn't trying to prove anything to that rogue. "It's time to circle him. We need to cover him completely but leave his rear open or you will injure yourself. Aim for the nose or his flank. If you stand near his neck he will gut you with his antlers!" stated the charcoal male, offering another example on how to properly execute his wishes. The young she-wolf obeyed and circled their target with the rest of the group, while carefully observing Ebony's tactics in taking the moose down once and for all. She panted loudly as she thought up a plan in her head, deciding on where her skills would go to the most use. She was far too small to deliver the killing blow, so instead the she-wolf chose to grab at the mammals flank once more, shaking her head vigorously as she attempted to tear away at its fleshy wound. The moose again kicked outwards, trying to dismantle her grip, but it was an exaggerated effort considering the others were already distracting it at its front end. With another mighty tug of her jaw, the lupine finally let go and leaped back graciously to avoid any collision as the moose flailed. "Aight then, which one of you is gonna rip his throat out," Euphoria turned her attention to the other rogue, Mayerthu, momentarily, eyes darting towards the trio as they put their own plan into motion. As they continued to present their tactics well and work together seamlessly, the lupine focused on snarling at the beasts side, snapping at its legs occasionally to aid in distraction as she awaited its death. The trek home had been something Maddox never really thought would take him so long. He didn’t realize that he had traveled so far away from it that he would have to spend weeks getting back. He’d been born to the lands of Lubrusca, but he had so easily been drawn away from them when he found the love of his life. Of course, the displacement of the fire that had ravished the land had pushed him from the territory as well, but it had been she who’d dragged him even further. Worn paw pads slid across the ground as he made his way past the borders. They still smelled strongly of his family, scents that he recognized. He did not pass through the part of the territory that others would have. Knowing the lands from when he was small, he knew many different passages that were not often utilized by rogues. The land that had once been burnt to the ground now had new foliage. There was almost no scarring left of the fire that had claimed so many lives from Lubrusca.
And just like the new foliage, Maddox would return bigger and stronger than before. He’d bettered his skills and come back home with stories of his travels, as well as the grief that burrowed itself deep within his heart. He had mostly gotten over the death of his mate, but when your first love passed due to unfortunate circumstances, it would be a scar that lingered and opened itself up to be a fresh wound during times of sorrow. But he wouldn’t let that change his mind about finding his family. He needed them, more than ever right now. And so he followed the fresh scent marks to the hunting territory. Looking out, he saw that there were wolves chasing after a moose. They looked to be near the tail end of the hunt and as he scanned each one, looking for familiar faces, he found the familiar pelt of one of his sisters. Maddox found his tail wagging almost immediately and as he trekked further into the territory, started off at a run, joy overflowing for his entire being as he saw that one of his siblings was still here. And as he looked, he saw Ebony was there as well. There were not many signs of others from the pack he had left, but these two were more than enough to make Maddox happier.
Before he knew it, he was tackling Cecilia to the ground, playfully bowling her over while licking her face and giving little whines of happiness and yips that signaled his excitement as he showered her with love and affection. Some would say his appearance would bring alarm, but the way he was acting, there was clearly no ill will in his movements. He was just excited to see his sister and be within the lands that he called home. “Cecilia! I’m so glad you’re here! I’ve missed you!” He said to her as he continued to shower her with affection, a smile placed lovingly on his face as he looked towards his sister.

Quill was immensely grateful when their group got to circling the moose, because that meant he could finally stop running. The male eyed the beast’s antlers with a wary eye as he caught his breath, the deceptively flat horns covered in sharp tips. He had no interest in meeting the business ends of those glorified weapons, thanks ever so much. He watched with faint disbelief as Ebony latched onto the moose’s face, brows raising sky-high as the prey responded by slamming the black wolf down into the earth. Even trapped between the moose’s massive head and the ground, which could not be comfortable, still Ebony attacked, claws aiming to gouge at the mammal’s eyes. It wasn’t long until the large beast released him, and the most experienced among them quickly leapt back to his feet and danced back. It was impressive, to be sure. Quill would not be attempting that. He watched with patient silver eyes as the other wolves all made their attacks. Mayerthu dashed to the moose’s side to nip at its flank, releasing a growl that sent a slight shiver down Quill’s spine. The hint of bloodlust to her smile was enough to draw his attention away from the task at hand, gaze sharpening abruptly as he committed that instinctual joy to memory. It was… hm. Something he’d have to analyze later. He snapped back to attention as Iris and Clover moved to either side of its neck, blinking rapidly and allowing his eyes to return to the half-lidded gaze that he typically preferred. As his sisters both lunged to grip either side of its throat and Euphoria darted in to deliver an attack of her own, he knew that he was expected to deliver some killing blow. He tensed, watching the mammal’s movements carefully before sliding in low, maw parting to take the beast’s throat between his jaws in an almost matter-of-fact manner. Bearing down, he waited until he had a firm grip before bracing his paws against its muscled shoulders and shoving backwards, taking a considerable chunk of its vulnerable throat with him as he did. The moose bellowed, the sound coming out choked and burbling as it staggered, lifeblood pouring rapidly into the grass below it. Quill let the hunk of meat fall from his mouth to the ground below with a muted thud, eyeing the creature as its shaking limbs failed to support its weight and it fell to the ground soon after. With the task done, began licking the blood from his muzzle, annoyance apparent in his expression as a drop just below his eye eluding his tongue. Sure, he was about to get bloody again as he ate, but fresh blood was easier to clean from his pelt than dried blood. He lifted a paw to scrub at the splash of crimson to no avail– damn. He’d have to use one of the three convenient rivers to get the mess off, probably. With a put-upon sigh, he looked up to see a new male barreling across the field towards them at high-speed. ”Uh, incoming, guys.” He woofed out a low warning, though he made no moves to try to intercept the wolf. His tail was too waggy for him to register as a threat, and sure enough, he bowled Cecilia over and smothered her in just about all the affection that he could. Seemed that they were reuniting; it was sweet to see. ”Next time I leave you guys for more than ten minutes, that’s how I’ll greet you when I return.” Quill stage whispered to his sisters, guessing that the two white wolves were siblings from their similar appearance.
