T I M E S K I P - 8 weeks later - - the constant happiness is curiosity -
In the eight weeks that had rushed by since Eureka was reunited with her brothers, many new relationships had begun to blossom from the stories they shared of journeys past. For one, with Uriel, Cassiel and Azrael dispersed, the weight of their secret was finally released, and Eureka had the chance to mourn the reality she'd suppressed since their conception and the spirit she regrettably lost in doing so. But in that time she began to rebuild the house of trust that toppled down, to forgive her aggressors, and had finally started a new journey she did not realize was calling to her all along.
Another relationship was shifting, too, that of her and her brothers. There was power in history thicker than their blood - the memories they shared were crystalized in their hearts like a beautiful gallery of precious paintings - but it was fortified by an undying link in their soul, River and Rage, that stretched over those three years and closed the gap like it wasn't there at all.
The summit of this relatively short experience, unique as it was to the formerly desisting maiden, was an undefinable bond with Lorelei. It began when Eureka came out to her family about what happened during the rogue ambush. Releasing a sensitive piece of herself into the world opened up a space for connection she'd never considered to be in her books. One of those connections happened to be the newly arisen sentinel, who had a resounding history of her own that drew Eureka into a budding relationship with her.
"Good morning," Eureka delivered with a cough and a shy smile as she wandered loosely into the sentinel's personal designation. In all her five years, Eureka had never once experienced romance. The buzzing feeling that winded her out of sleep each morning was growing into her daily habits, like now as she conveniently aimed her brisk stroll in Lorelei's direction and like the evenings when she pined for her company. "I don't know if I was dreaming or half asleep, but I could have sworn I heard you come by my den last night," Eureka lightheartedly attested, her tail beating side to side in perfect ratio to her accelerating heart.

8 Weeks. Such a short amount of time for some. And yet in that short amount of time, a lot had changed. Tomlin was one of those big changes. No longer was he this tiny pup nestled in his mothers side. Now he was a tiny pup being a thorn in the packs' rear end. He was still learning about the world around him, but he had a lot to say for sure. And he was planning to get into everything. Today may have been one of his calmer days. Rather than be somewhere he should not, Tomlin could be found by a rather large rock, clawing at it's side. A full grown wolf may have been able to leap atop it, but for Tomlin it was an impossible feat. His legs could only carry him so high, and there were no pawholds for him to get a hold of. And he was growing very frustrated with this. So frustrated, in fact, that he now sought to hurt the boulder, because how dare it not let him up. So he charged at it, mimicking a raging bull, as he crashed his head into the side of the stone. For an adult, this was not the smartest move. But at his age, Tomlin was the equivalent of a 5 year old child. And he was angry, and not exactly coming up with good ideas. "Owww." Tomlin lied down on the ground, rubbing his now sore head. Now the rock had hurt him! How was that fair? "Moooooom!"

Rory had come accustomed to the Somnus pack schedule as the weeks flew by. It seemed like just yesterday that her two boys were still barely the length of her paw, but now they were out bustling about. As Tomlin and Merlin grew, they started getting a bit more rambunctious. Or it was better to say, Tomlin was becoming rambunctious. He was the little spitfire of the two, constantly trying to achieve his own goals while wreaking slight havoc upon everyone else.
It had been awhile since Rory had last seen Aura as well, though she had parted ways as soon as she helped Rory get to the packlands. Aura even doing that for Rory wasn’t necessary, though she had done it anyway.
In the blur of time that whirled by, she had become quite close with Blue as they both looked over the pups together. It was nice to have someone other than herself care about the wellbeing of her children, that was just one more thing that made her feel at ease with the pack even more.
Watching Merlin toddle about a rock he had somehow managed to climb the side of, her attention flicked over to the blur of Tomlin as he disappeared before he cried for her. Gesturing in question if Blue could handle watching Merlin for the moment, she trotted her way over to where she had heard Tomlin’s cry. She found him by a rock, one a bit larger than the one Merlin had scaled.
Seeing that he was rubbing at his head she just assumed that he had either fallen off his chosen rock, or had decided to challenge the thing to a duel which it ultimately won. Licking the whimpering pup she nudged him gently towards where Merlin was still atop that rock.
“Maybe you should try climbing smaller rocks for now, like the one over there.” She said softly to the boy, who had only slightly injured his head. He wasn’t bleeding, and he hadn’t enough strength at the moment to do any serious damage like causing himself a concussion.
Walking with Tomlin back over to Blue, she nodded to the other she-wolf to let her know all was okay.

-- Timeskip: 8 weeks --A soft and warm light filtered through the leafy canopy above, pouring down onto the plush grass below. The light crept along the ground as the sun slowly began to rise, eventually spilling into the opening of a den to pool against the figures of two wolves curled tightly around one another. White limbs tangled with oaken. Warm and even breaths mixing in the cool autumn air. Aelin stirred quietly, shifting to nuzzle impossibly closer against her mate, savouring the scent of alpine and sandalwood she found whilst burying her nose in his fur like this. They had found their old den just as they had left it, and despite all the extra room they had now that all of their pups had moved out, the mated pair still slept as closely as they always did. It had been two months since their return to Somnus, though Aelin wasn't counting. After having spent so long away, it strangely felt like it had been no time at all. There were new faces among them, though they still managed to feel like old friends thanks to the familial atmosphere that Somnus had always adhered to. Luke was still with them, now with most of his wounds healed up. Aelin had taken a fair amount of time keeping Draco's brother company during the healing process, finding that she got along quite well with the brute as this had been the longest amount of time they'd spent together since meeting so many moons ago. She wished he could stay, especially for the sake of his siblings, though it was no secret that he was itching to go back out to try and find his lost mate, so it was almost expected that he'd be leaving any day now. Though, Aelin wasn't one to worry about the future too much. She reminded herself that she needed to be grounded in the now, a lesson she had learnt after raising twelve pups. She pulled her muzzle away from her mate only momentarily, her golden gaze staring up at him with a softness that could rival even the bedding of moss beneath them. "Good morning, my love." Aelin spoke in a near whisper, giving a quick lick to his cheek in greeting. She quickly nuzzled back into his side, seeking the warmth he gave while the world outside was chilled and frosted over. "Dracooo. It's gonna be one of those mornings, you'll have to drag me out of this den." She mumbled and drawled into his chest, mocking how their children would sometimes refuse to wake up and greet the world. She wasn't completely lying though, quite honestly, she could stay curled up with her mate forever. Draco

|| 8 week timeskip || For all the years that she had spent nestled comfortably among Somnus’ ranks, it was still a novel to watch its inhabitants shift and grow. Only two months had passed, yet so very much had changed. The departure of Uriel, Cassiel, and Azrael was offset by the arrival of Rory and her babes– which in and of itself was an experience for the fire-furred female to witness. As a scout, Lorelei had spent many months outside of the pack’s borders, nurturing her rogue connections and returning home with the rumors she could glean clutched close like a prize. She’d left Zelda, Midna, and Link as wee little babies, returning only to find them standing tall at her knee. Left again when they were still struggling to get their oversized paws to work, returned to find them striding confidently at shoulder-height; this pattern of missed milestones continued until they were well within young adulthood. So, to see how little Tomlin and Merlin grew day by day, not missing even the slightest inch in gained height– it was mesmerizing and new. And that wasn’t the only thing to hold her in rapturous attention. With the return of Eureka’s brothers, it would seem that the alphess had at long last found the semblance of peace that she needed to trust in a way that she hadn’t been open to before. Lorelei was no stranger to listening, but she had still been surprised when the other she-wolf had opened up to her about her past. Lor had been impossibly mesmerized with how the female had balanced strength and vulnerability with inimitable grace, and had been compelled to share her own pain; the death of her mother, still a freshly-scabbed wound. Since then, the bond between them had been tangible– and yet fragile, as all new things are. The small wolf had risen before the sun, the crispness of the morning leaving her feeling refreshed and lively as she patrolled their westernmost border. Now, with the sun making its appearance, she returned to the common grounds, orange eyes bright with an energetic light that never quite dimmed. Lithe muscle burned with a pleasant ache as she stretched out her limbs, dispersing the last of the adrenaline clinging to her body as she turned her gaze towards Eureka. ”Good morning, alphess.” She returned, lips pulling into a cheery smile. Her lips curled around the title like a caress, turning the rank into nothing short of an endearment. And how could she not? With the light peeking through the canopy setting the colors of Eureka’s pelt aglow, she looked heaven-kissed, a halo of sunlight bringing every subtle shift of color to attention. She was a painting set against the forest’s backdrop, and Lorelei couldn’t have stopped the wag of her tail if she had tried. She was equally new to the idea of romance. It was odd, for the passionate wolf, to try and employ caution; she had always jumped into everything worthwhile wholeheartedly and without reservation. But with this, she felt on some instinctive level that she had to go slow, be careful in a way that she had never been before. Which is why she clamped fiercely down on the whimsical urge to brush her cheek against Eureka’s, or take the tip of her ear in a sly, nipping kiss. Control. She kept her person to herself, but the alphess would not miss the distinctive warmth to her eyes, toeing the line of heat.”If it were a dream, would it have been a good one?” She flirted with an ease that betrayed her. And it was a betrayal, because it suggested that she had used such lines on others, that she had the experience to back up the confidence of her words, which was simply untrue. ”I did pass by your den on the way to my own, last night. I hope I didn’t disturb you.” And it was here that her tenuous control broke, unable to resist the impulse to let her tail brush briefly against the fronts of Eureka’s legs as she circled once before settling down into a loose sprawl. But she was hardly apologetic; she grinned, the innocent pleasure that came with the equally innocent touch enough to embolden her to the point of cheekiness. Eureka

[nospaces][googlefont="Gotu:700,400"][googlefont="Rubik Distressed:700,400"] | [attr="class","main"]The warmth that came from summer was quickly receding into the grasps of fall as they lay in their den. Draco could already tell that winter would be quickly approaching and he disliked the fact that it would mean the pack - his pack - would potentially suffer losses. Winter was always harsh, especially with pups. Rory had just given birth and while the pups were getting older by the day, that still would not prepare them for winter. There were many beneficial things when it came to winter. The fact that most enjoyed the snow, as well as cuddling up in the den with Aelin and spending days in the den, just to escape the cold grasp for a warmer embrace. [break][break] Upon his return, Draco had been named Alpha alongside Eureka once more. When they were younger, he would have refuted ruling the pack beside her, but now that they had been separated, Draco found comfort in the fact that he and his sister could provide counsel to the other when they needed it. Draco was happy that in his time away Eureka had been able to sustain a flourishing pack amidst everything she had gone through. Her three pups had dispersed within the past couple weeks as well, leaving her nest empty just like his. But with an empty nest, Eureka could foster and let her wounds from the past heal. He hoped that if anything like that were to happen again, she would seek him out first. He wanted to be there for her, just as she had been for him. [break][break] Aelin’s sweet honeyed words reached his ears as he tried to get in a couple more moments of sleep. It was strange, the large den used to house so many pups and there were moments when Draco couldn’t wait to wake up and escape the heat of so many bodies. But now, he missed it. He wondered if Aelin did as well, but he gave a small chuff before nudging her. “I think we should just stay in today,” He said, eyes closed. “Eureka can handle duties today. I just want to sleep,” He told his mate as he wrapped himself around her. [break][break] “It’s odd not having them here,” He whispered to her. “It feels empty,” His pups had been the first of many things to make him the wiser older wolf he was today. And he missed being a father. Maybe Aelin would entertain the idea of a third litter, but he could hardly think with how many pups they already had that it would go over well. She’d put in so much work for their pups, and he almost wished their roles could be reversed so that he could give her a break. But he wouldn’t lie, motherhood suited her, and the glow that enveloped her when she was pregnant the first two times had been almost sinful. Draco knew it was selfish, but he’d fallen more in love with Aelin each pregnancy, and that would surely not stop now.

It’d been two months since he had dragged himself to the Somnus borders. Luke’s leg had permanently been maimed. He could not put too much weight on it and thus could not run as quickly as he could have in his prime. But that was okay, the fact that he had been reunited with his family had been enough. He hoped that wherever Wren and his sons were, they would be okay. He’d come to terms and grieved over the loss of his family. He was sure that whoever now resided in Noctis territory would not know who he was, nor the history the pack had. But someday, he planned to return. Not to lead, those days were over. Luke wouldn’t be much of a leader with his maimed leg and missing eye, but he could offer advice. And live out his days in the lands he had once called home. His old den in Somnus had still been standing. After he had recovered enough, he had moved back into it. He had to refurbish it a little, which Draco was kind enough to help with. But now it was like he’d never been apart from his birth lands. Draco had reinstated himself as the Alpha of the pack alongside Eureka and everything felt whole here. But Luke was still fractured, missing the pieces that kept him together and forged the love he’d kindled and kept burning for life. He wanted to find those pieces, pick them up and put them back together as he would have the moment he found his mate and children. Giving a small sigh, Luke got up, hobbling out of his den as he looked around. It seemed the pups were awake and a small smile crept on his face as he made his way over to Blue and Rory. He looked at the young Tomlin and pressed his nose to the top of the young pup’s head. “He looks right as rain if you ask me,” He told Rory, giving a chuckle. “Good morning you two,” He dipped his head. He knew that Blue could not hear him but he gave a friendly smile towards her to indicate that he was greeting her. He wondered where Nevermore was, the Salutary had been a huge help and she was Blue’s ears. But for now, he would simply settle down next to Rory. Looking towards the pups, they reminded him of his when they were younger. Always getting into trouble and finding ways to do so. Blue Rory Tomlin Merlin

The time was finally drawing near. Link had been committed to an apprenticeship under Percy. Link always had been a fighter, but he didn't have a history nearly as extensive as his uncle's. Despite his easygoing personality, the brute was daunting if only for the knowledge he carried. He'd put Link in a deadly hold within seconds if he wanted to, so he made sure to stay on his good side. "Hey hey Mr. Uncle!" Link shouted, friendly as ever, though his first day of training truly had his nervous system running on full power. "Are you going to show me how to put Midna in a chokehold or what?" He laughed, but the thought was pleasing and had been teasing Link's mind since he became an apprentice. Actually... since he was born. Percy

Fickle fickle fickle thing. Right down the hatch and out your ass with this bullshit you dimwitted measly fucking idiot.El nipped quietly at the tiny furs that stuck up from the tip of Blue's left ear. It didn't mean anything, but El enjoyed the sensation at his lips. It was an alright remedy to suppressing the responses boiling in his mind. Don't antagonize, just use your eyes, and around they spun in Eureka's direction as she exited her den. Good morning, beautiful, he smiled, flicking his tongue around to remove any bits of Blue's fur still stuck on his lips, but his eyes never gave up on the alphess' figure, even as it predictably disembarked at Lorelei's den. That's right, freak. Why on earth would someone like that want anything to do with your ugly, freak self? You goddamn pu-El took the weight of his body and left the little crevice he formed in the small layer of snow beneath him. His tail wagged and his muzzle danced up and down in glee with his paw digging into Blue's flank. Look at my snow angel, he thought, admiring his art. His feet soon passed over the impression in the ground as they carried him to Rory's pups. Passing Luke, he gave him a nod of acknowledgement, and briefly gestured to Blue in case she hadn't received Luke's message. Tomlin was being a dramatic imbecile a typical pup and taking on a battle too grand for his age. Pups liked attention at this age, and feigned incompetence was an effective and adorable way to get it. The mute picked the pup up by the scruff and like a crane he swung the tiny body around and planted it by a smaller rock, not much bigger than Tomlin himself. Pick on someone your own size, El mused silently, his head jerking back in an almost-laugh while his startling blue eyes pierced behind the pup in search of his other sister, Nevermore. She must have been out with Midna. Blue Nevermore Tomlin Merlin Rory

A relaxed hum echoed through the open space of their den as Aelin sank into the mass of her mate, his larger body wrapping impossibly closer around her. "I think we should just stay in today, Eureka can handle duties today. I just want to sleep." His deep rumbling tones felt as if they were rattling her bones as he spoke, something that would have been off-putting and intimidating to anyone else, but to her, it reminded her that she was safe. Her mate and her Alpha holding her so tightly, there was nowhere and no-one else that made her feel so at ease. She gave a soft and breathy chuckle against his chest before she replied. "This is why I love you, we can so easily agree when a day should be spent sleeping."It wasn't long before Draco's thoughts began wandering, Aelin could almost hear the cogs turning in his head, could see it in the way his warm chocolate gaze would flit around the den. She could ponder on what had caught in his head, though this curiosity wasn't left unchecked for too long as her mate chose to share in speaking his mind. "It's odd not having them here, it feels empty." She huffed, trying to suppress a laugh, though nothing could stop the smile that spread across her maw and the warmth that grew to accompany the weight that had been growing in her stomach. It had been about three weeks since she herself had figured it out, knowing exactly what the signs her body was giving meant, as these sensations weren't anything foreign to her. Draco, however, was clueless. She guessed she had to thank the thickness of her coat that had come with the chilling temperatures, the plush fur hiding the slight roundness that had begun to take to her belly, being the most obvious hint at what was going on within. "It won't be empty for much longer," she confessed with a stupidly big smile as she glanced upwards to her mate. "Draco. I'm pregnant again."Draco

[googlefont="Kulim Park:700,400"][googlefont="Lato:700,400"] | | | | | Just a little thing: Rory isn’t ignoring Aura’s presence, but she does want the pups to be in the den for the time being |
| As the time continued to pass, more wolves arose from their dens. Luke had even come over to where Rory was sitting with Blue, watching her pups clamber up rocks, inspecting Tomlin for a moment before reassuring that he was fine. As Luke greeted both her and the alabaster female that resided next to her she wagged her tail ever the slightest movement in reaction to her happiness.
“Good morning Luke, how was your sleep?”
As she spoke, her amber eyes caught the glimpse of El going to retrieve Tomlin. Having set him by a smaller rock, Rory could only assume the El too thought that the pup would be better off practicing his rock climbing skills on rocks lesser in height than his first pick.
“Morning El,” she said. Though she knew that the male wouldn’t answer her greeting with words, she still felt that speaking simpler things to him, things that didn’t call for any verbal response was still a good way to socialize with him. As his attention faded from the pups and Blue, gazing out beyond them, she left him to dewelve in his thoughts.
Here in this pack Rory had started feeling at ease, something that she was unable to feel her entire journey to get here to this point. It was a good feeling certainly, but to her it was still one that felt strange to be accompanied with.
Though the morning had started off on a mostly calm note, Rory knew that was about to change as soon as Aura showed up to the pack commons once more, with whom she could only assume was a rogue hauled on her back. It didn’t take but a few moments before the smell of blood hit her senses before spotting a very open wound on the wolf, which gathered her to shepherd her pups into the den that she resided in since her arrival. The two pups probably wouldn’t get much of a chance to protest before she got them tucked away where they were unable to see anything that may hinder their still developing minds.

Tomlin stared at his mother in outrage. "I don't want a smaller rock! I want this rock! I want to climb it, and show everyone just how big and strong and tough I am!" But his cries of protests were useless, as his mother herded him right back over to where she and Blue had been laying. Immediately, he rushed over to Blue, climbing up onto her side and making sure he was able to be seen. "You agree with me, right Auntie Blue? You know I'm big and strong and I can do anything! I could climb a mountain if I tried hard enough!"A nose touched the top of his head, and Tomlin cringed under the feeling, looking up to see Luke. "Luuuukkeeee! Stooooppp thatttt!" Tomlin got off of Blue, changing his focus to Luke as he charged, ramming his head playfully into his leg. "Of course I'm alright! I'm the strongest wolf in all of Somnus! In the whole world even! No rock can defeat me! I am the almighty Tomlin!"And then the almighty Tomlin let out a squeak as his paws were lifted off of the ground, and he was carried over to one of the smaller rocks. As soon as he was put down, he whipped around, turning to glare at El. "Hey! No fair! I was showing them just how awesome I was!" He could have kept going on, but something in the air changed. He didn't have time to investigate what was happening before Rory was hiding him away. He didn't even have enough time to protest, everything was happening so fast. He tried to see what was going on, but his mother blocked the view with her figure, and he couldn't so much as catch a glimpse before he was shooed away into the den. Rory, Luke, El, Blue

Aura trudged into the common grounds, panting as she was finally able to lay Vesper on the ground, allowing herself to lay down as she waited for the inevitable crowd to form. Although it was worrying that, among those present, Aura did not see Nevermore. Wasn't she the pack healer? Of course she had left just when a wolf was bleeding to death. she stood back up, making sure the moss was still firmly pressed against the wound, although it wasn't doing much good now with as much blood as there was. She caught the eyes of Eureka, and dipped her head. "I'm sorry to ask for help again so soon after you guys saved Rory. I swear I am not trying to make a habit out of this. But I saw this wolf, and it looks like he was impaled by a Spike Elk. He's losing a lot of blood, I didn't know where else to take him."Now that she had given an explanation, Aura took some time to truly see the state of the wound. The bleeding seemed to have slowed down, at least a little. So that had to be good, right? She just hoped one of the wolves present could tend to him, or that Nevermore would return soon. ★ faiYou’re terrified to look down cause if you dare, you’ll see the glare of everyone you burned just to get there.

She was ashamed to admit it if even in secret, but Zelda had been sleeping better since Eureka's pups dispersed. They didn't belong here for more reasons than their obvious intentions to challenge Somnus' very way of life, the one her parents spent their lives building and passing on to the following generations. She was getting on some age herself and often pondered when she would finally be able to live up to their names, and now, with the trio gone and her new rank established, it felt closer than ever. Yet when trotting past Rory's pups it also felt out of reach all the same. It felt like time was skipping right over the Zelda and mocking her dreams. Seemed like Link had a purpose, finally. She was proud of him. Ever since that day at the borders, when he risked his life for Rory and the others, she began to understand him. He wasn't just an egotistical award-seeker helping others for praise, he genuinely valued the life of his family over his own. It was Zelda's own reality she projected onto him, belittled him for. She'd since made efforts to mend their relationship and end the competition she'd brought with her into adulthood. She knew now it was one of the only memories she had of her days with Azaelia and Ocean, tugging at her siblings' tails and battling for her parents' affections. That is took her this long to truly accept their deaths and release her survival grip on her puphood was her greatest regret to this day. "Hey Link - Oh my gosh," Zelda started on her way to Merida before being interrupted by Aura, Somnus' favorite outlander, bringing a rogue-in-need back to heart of Somnus once again. If not for the seriousness of the situation Zelda would have been charmed, but instead she released a resounding howl to call for Nevermore and Midna. By the looks of this poor rogue, if they weren't already on their way back by now, there was little hope. Aelin, Eureka, Tomlin, Rory, Lorelei, Draco, Luke, Link, El, Aura,

While Vesper was in and out of consciousness from the mixture of extreme pain and blood loss, he was faintly aware that someone had indeed come to save him. He couldn’t make anything out, though he could feel his body gosling what he presumed was his savior’s back. It hurt, the movement, but it wasn’t anything near the pain that his open neck caused him.
One of their brief minutes or so of being minimally conscious, the movements stopped and they felt their body slide to the ground, ‘Certainly they aren’t leaving me for dead, right? If they wanted to do that, they could’ve just left me where I was…’
Their thoughts were rational enough to them, though they still doubted that whoever had saved them, for now, wouldn’t have carried them all this way just to leave them again. That really wouldn’t make much sense at all.
He heard some voices and felt the vibrations of paw steps on the earth, and it was certainly more than one wolf. Hoping that one of the wolves he was brought to could help him, he slipped back into the dark fog once more.
Here in the darkness there was no pain, they were fine here. As Vesper wandered through the black fog that was their mind, it parted, making way for them to walk to a brighter darkness. Something deep down inside them warned them against approaching it further while another lighter feeling drew them towards it.
As more of the fog parted, it left him with a decision. He could go left, towards the light amidst the dark, or he could stay where he was. Less than a second later a third path emerged which gave him yet another choice. He could also go right, into the newly emerged light that smelled of wet grass and sounded of birds in the morning. ‘Sounds more peaceful over here,’ he thought, moving his legs in rhythm to the right and third path.
Arriving back into semi-consciousness, the pain felt faded, which probably wasn’t a good thing. Finally able to slightly open their grassy colored, jade eyes in what seemed like forever, they just looked. Their eyes weren’t fully open, so they weren’t able to see much, nor would they attempt to move their neck, not in the state they knew was evident.
All Vesper was able to see was paws, and a far away blur of some silhouettes. No one had yet stepped forth closer to him, which probably meant none of the wolves here had the skill it would take to help him. These wolves really were his last hope, and all he could do was try and keep hold of the little bit of consciousness he had remaining, in fear of not getting an option next time his body went into the black hole of his mind.
