As the stranger grabbed a stick with his mouth and began to draw, Percy slipped out a restrained chuckle. Who gets impaled by a deer, right? But as the rogue drew out the scene of the attack in the dirt, Percy started to feel a twinge of sympathy for the poor wolf. It looked pretty brutal. He'd seen a lot of gruesome attacks in his day as a traveling adversary, but Link was a little luckier having been raised in the safety net of Somnus. This was new territory for his nephew, and with all the admiration he had in his heart for that kid, Percy nostalgically played along with his curiosity by guessing everything but the right answer to the rogue's drawings.
"You were trying to give the spike deer a hug?" he exclaimed, pointing at a particularly messy scribble on the ground. Percy kept guessing, each one more absurd than the last. "And then you were ambushed by a gang of squirrels?!" he shouted, barely able to contain his laughter. Finally, the stranger finished his drawing and Percy's hysteria had worn off amid the unenthused stares he was likely to receive for reasons unbeknownst to him at the time. It was a mess of lines and squiggles, but he could make out the rough shape of a deer with a massive, twisting horn. "Well, I'll be damned," I muttered. "Looks like our friend here really did get impaled by a deer." Just then, Percy felt the tension in the commons storm him. As the paladin of the pack, it was his responsibility to protect the pack from physical threats, but he felt helpless in the face of this mysterious illness. He watched as Draco called for healers, but one was still missing. He knew he needed to work with the other leaders and healers to figure out what was happening and how to stop it. Percy took a deep breath and reminded himself of his duty to his family and pack. He turned to Link and said, "Let's get started on your training. We don't know what's happening, but we need to be ready for whatever comes our way. Come on."

- the constant happiness is curiosity -
A bone freezing cold overtook her as Luke’s face grew perturbed, shifting uncannily with helpless confusion. “Luke?” A bated breath in her tone holed up even deeper in her throat when he fell unconscious to the ground. Eureka tried to soften his fall using her neck as support knowing her much smaller form couldn’t support her brother’s weight. Her teeth grit in discomfort as her mane stretched unnaturally to the floor, though successfully helping her brother avoid a thick blow to the head when he came down.
Draco’s voice was a relief, having had no sight of him all morning.
“I’m fine.” In unison, the brother and sister pair sent their senses on a mission to discern the danger befalling the commons, and the most ready solutions. “I’ll have someone fetch Nevermore,” Draco asserted with the confidence Eureka had always relied on him for. "Over here, too. It's Rory,” her beta chimed with an impressive command in her voice, but the underlying fear encroaching on the pack didn’t go unnoticed by the intuitive alphess.
“Okay, I’ll isolate the ill,” she responded to Draco before he took off in demand of the Somnus salutaries, one of which had yet to return. The implications of Nevermore’s absence was growing like a pit in Eureka’s stomach, and she sent off El and Zelda with a faithful tick of her nose to the sky despite the lingering sense of foreboding steeping in her lungs. It was out of necessity that authoritatively conduct her breath in slow, deep motions to look El in the eye.
Merida and the pups had found some cold, wet leaves to help Rory. Eureka was grateful to have such a thoughtful and well-rounded beta who could find creative solutions to such a pressing issue. “Thank you,” Eureka said warmly as she transferred the leaves from Merida to Rory. “Round the pups and everyone else without symptoms to the lake. We need to quarantine the commons.”
As Midna did her best to help Luke, Eureka pat Rory with the icy leaves and attempted to funnel the remaining moisture into her mouth. The alphess ran her muzzle over the mother's scruff, aware of the risks that came with her proximity. With Draco at a safe distance, Eureka felt at ease knowing at least one of them would be around to lead if anything were to happen.
The tunneling realization that it could happen to anybody drum kicked her heart into a fervent but tamed search for Lorelei, her head waving out of the den in search of her, even calling for her.

[googlefont="Kulim Park:700,400"][googlefont="Lato:700,400"] | | | | | Gotta love sickly adrenaline |
| Rory wandered the darkness of her unconsciousness for what seemed like a millennia. The moment the slightest hint of her bearings came back, a splitting headache appeared out of thin air. She couldn't think straight, or probably at all in the time she was awake for the first few seconds. It appeared as though whatever the Alphess had done before going off in search of something or someone had worked to momentarily relieve the brown wolf of the dizziness.
In that time she opened her eyes and looked around, not finding her pups anywhere nearby. Panic engulfed the she-wolf as in her ill state she was unable to comprehend the possibility of someone having brought the pups away safely. Instead she was thinking the worst and a wave of adrenaline rushed her, pushing her to stand and walk towards the mouth of the den.
Rory didn't get far out of the den before her legs buckled under her, as the dizzy spell took hold of her again. She took one more look around the commons, unsuccessfully spotting her pups that should've been right there. Her vision swam in an array of colors before the dark swallowed her whole and trapped her in its restraints for a second time.

It felt like the whole world was crashing down around Aura all of a sudden. They had gotten the stray she had brought medical care, and then it seemed only more chaos rained down around them. Wolves had started collapsing, starting with one-eye, because of course it would be that old man. Everything seemed to move so fast as they began to isolate the sick. And then she saw Rory among the fallen. What the hell, did I really save you just so you could get sick and die? She didn't know if she was annoyed or scared to see the mother there. The alphess was also with her, but she was still trying desperately to move. Because of course she was. Rory just loved to be trouble. And of course Aura was going to just jump right in with her. With a sigh, she made her way over to the den, dipping her head to Eureka. "Go. Your pack needs you to be well. I'll stay with her, I mean, I'll stay with them. Don't worry, I'll be here to help Nevermore with whatever she needs." Wherever the hell she is. She better hurry.★ faiYou’re terrified to look down cause if you dare, you’ll see the glare of everyone you burned just to get there.

It would appear that Vesper's orders for rest would be thrown out of the question as orders to evacuate the commons were now in place. It hadn't been too long since he had drawn out his whole 'spike elk' ordeal, but his neck wound didn't feel nearly as horribly painful as when he first arrived. He supposed that meant the wound was trying to scan over, or something of the like. Either way, not having an immense burning sensation in his neck was relieving. Stepping out of the den slowly, they looked around as their eyes adjusted once more to the light of the sun. Just mere steps away from them little balls of fur were bounding around looking for something. Replaying the Alphess' command in their head, the pups were the first subjects she requested be taken to the lake, which would definitely mean the duo would need to head off and follow one of the wolves making their way out of the commons. The white she-wolf that had gotten the pups to start hunting around the commons was more likely to get the pups to listen to her than a stranger, so Vesper went off in the direction that Link and Percy left. It started with a game. While the wolves scampered about outside with the arrival of two newcomers, Tomlin was searching for something yellow. Because he was going to find that yellow first. He just had to! And surely this leaf had been close enough to yellow, right? He was just about to ask Rory- Except she was on the ground, now. Panic overtook him as he raced to her side. "Mom! This wasn't part of the game! I don't like this, you need to get up!" He tried pushing on his mother, but she did not seem to be moving. She wasn't dead, was she? Why wouldn't she get up? His eyes were full of tears when Merida came in. Before he could even choke down his sobs to say anything, she was already taking action with the situation. He could do that, right? Just find a water leaf, and mom would get better! He could save her! Tomlin began to gather as many leaves as he could find as the older wolves began to bark out orders he didn't quite hear. He was still so scared, terrified that this was how he would lose his mother. But Rory couldn't die! She had to be their mother forever and ever! Right? So she would be okay, right? He brought the leaves over to his mother, whom the alphess was taking care of. His pelt was still prickling with fear when Eureka ordered them to the lake. "But I don't wanna leave her! She's my mom, I have to stay! I have to be here so she can get better!"Tomlin tried his best to fight any more tears as he looked at Eureka with determination in his eyes. He had to stay with her. It was Rory, he couldn't just leave her! Eureka had to let him stay! He didn't know what he would do without Rory. Eureka, Rory, Merlin, Merida

The commons were a flurry of new faces and injured wolves. There were adult wolves leaving, and, surprisingly, two very young pups as well. They didn't smell at all like Draco or Aelin, so she figured that, somehow, there had been another litter in Somnus. A brown she-wolf lay motionless on the ground, yet another talking to the familiar face of Eureka as amber eyes finally fell onto the crumpled form of her mate. She had seen Luke at his worst. When he was exhausted and mentally broken from the loss of Fire&Ice, when his morals were challenged by outcasting his beta, Zero, the loss of his daughter Feyre and his Beta Sasha at the hands of monsters too evil to speak of, and lastly the falling out of love with his previous mate Seven, he had been through it all. At least then he had Makoto and Haruka to keep him going. Though he had been through hell, Luke had always seemed like the pinnacle of strength. Maybe it was the rose-coloured glasses of her viewing him as the infallible Alpha before they fell in love that gave her this idea. Either way, despite everything, Luke was always a pillar. He stood strong and tall for his pack. Wren considered herself extremely lucky to have been able to stand beside him in this way. Now, he looked like an elder on their last legs. His coat was dull, his body weight significantly lower than it normally was in winter, and his leg looked incredibly painful, even if it had healed in the two months he had been back with his family. Though his eyes were closed, she already was mourning the loss of a soft chocolate eye that had once stared into hers with more vulnerability than she had ever seen as he professed her feelings. Yet with all his injuries, he was still undeniably hers. He was still the male she fell in love with, the one she raised a family with, the one she grieved so much when they were separated by the cruel fits of nature. "Eureka!" Wren called out, her pace quickening now that she was back somewhere familiar. She knew it was disrespectful to the Alphess, but she couldn't help but have her attention focused solely on the unconscious body of her mate at his sister's paws. "Luke," she whispered, burying her face into the fur around his neck as she curled up next to him. For a moment - a brief, fleeting, cruel moment - the world around her disappeared. The smell of Noctis, of true home, washed over her as she tried to ground herself within this reality. She had imagined meeting him again and them both running towards each other as the sun set, colliding with each other in a twirling explosion of love and longing for all the time they had lost. Instead, all she could do was try to will him back to life without any herbal experience while fighting back tears. "Oh my love, please wake up. You have to wake up," she murmured into his fur, not knowing if he could even hear her. She hoped he could. She imagined her voice pulling him back into the land of the living, but she knew that really it was more for her own comfort. Taking one final breath of her mate, Wren looked up again and back to Somnus' Alphess solemnly, "What can I do to help? Just say the word, I'll do anything to help your pack. I wish we were meeting again in better circumstances." She wanted her tone to be steady and confident, as if a remnant of her days as Alphess could empower her in this trying time. Instead, her heart was pushing much harder to influence her, and she was much more concerned wife than composed head ready to help. Eureka Luke

Eureka’s intrusion into her personal space was welcome and thrilling; Lorelei could feel the anticipation of the moment in her very bones as the distance between them all but disappeared. The heat of the other she-wolf’s breath against the delicate curve of her ear was the sweetest torture, and she had to tamp down fiercely on the childish urge to plant a kitten-lick along the underside of the alphess’ jaw– an instinctual plea for more that she hadn’t used on a soul since she was very young. Maybe her thoughts could be seen on her face, or maybe the taller wolf just decided to take mercy on her; either way, the draw of Eureka’s tongue over her ear made her heart pound in time with the wag of her tail. But before she could respond, ideally with something enticing, the wolf held in her affections strode away. Minx, She thought in half a daze, wondering why the heat in her blood refused to dissipate even in the other’s absence. If she were any less jovial than she was, she might have cursed the arrival of Aura and her injured charge for interrupting the moment. But as it stood, her own desires were replaced swiftly with concern as she surveyed the wounded wolf. She was no healer, but it didn’t take a medic to know that the amount of blood pooling on the grass was nothing to sneeze at. Lifting her gaze to Eureka – in this moment, her commander – she dipped her head in acceptance before turning to seek out Percy and Link. The two males had already departed, managing to slip away with perfect timing to just barely avoid her searching gaze. It was no matter; she was perfectly capable of scouting on her own, and should any trouble arise she had a perfectly functioning pair of lungs with which to howl. Well, she thought with an abrupt clearing of her throat, mostly functional. An odd pressure had accumulated at the base of her throat, and she had to lock in a rasping cough behind her teeth lest she interrupt the scenario unfolding before her. Shaking her head to herself as if to dismiss the discomfort – why was she still so hot – she slipped away to follow the trail of blood. || Time Skip: 45 minutes || Normally following a blatant trail to its origin and back was child’s play. Lorelei had been doing this for years, knew every nook and cranny of her home like the back of her own paw, and yet— and yet. The trip had taken her far longer than she had anticipated, her own stamina failing her and filling her with a sense of dread every time she had to stop to walk. Her speed and endurance were points of pride for her, so it was nearly unthinkable. Lorelei needing a break? But every time she ran for more than a few minute’s time, her breathing became labored far quicker than usual and her paws stuttered beneath her. Surely she wasn’t old? Past her prime? The way the wracking coughs had begun to shake her small frame every now and then assured her that this was probably just a winter cold, but still her own pace frustrated her. When she finally returned to the common grounds, she was careful to ensure that her relaxed smile and laid-back mien were on full display– as much as they could be, anyway, as she fought to get her labored breathing back under control. How embarrassing. She paused briefly when she noted the sheer lack of wolves in the clearing, two of which clearly incapacitated on the ground. Rory? And Luke? Her brow furrowed in dismay, and she looked up to meet Eureka’s eyes. Had she been looking for her? ”Alphess? What–” She broke off, lifting a forelimb to cover her muzzle as an abrupt coughing fit left her shuddering. ”I’m sorry. I must have come down with a cold,” She apologized, masterfully feigning a casual air to downplay just how shit she felt. ”There was nothing but a coyote nosing at the blood trail, but it skittered off when it saw me. I dampened the scent by covering the blood with snow as I went.” Lorelei reported briskly, orange pelt a small flame against the snow as she shifted, ignoring the urge to sit down. ”But more importantly– what happened here? Do you need me to help?” In truth, all she wanted to do was press her head into the snow to try and quell the feverish heat that bubbled beneath her skin, but if she was needed she could wait. Probably. Eureka

A memory of a happier time came to him, one that filled him with nothing but a fluttering happiness that made him want to sleep forever. To stay in the moment that lingered here as he stared at the visage of Wren, standing tall and proud, commanding the leagues of Noctis wolves. At her feet were the small forms of Makoto and Haruka, tumbling and playing as they giggled under their stepmother's feet. She was beautiful, iridescent in the light as she spoke. But her words were muddled, as if his head was underwater and he couldn't hear her clearly. He moved closer, but every step he took, she moved further away. He started running, and as he did, he felt like he was trekking in mud, sapping the energy from him as he tried to move towards her. His mouth opened, but it felt like that same mud filled it, making him choke as he cried out for her, wanting her to see him. To look at him. He cried. She was so close, how could she be so close and yet so far from him. And then, finally, her head turned towards him, and his sons ran from her feet. For the first time, his mate looked at him in his dreams, and Luke felt tears fall down his cheeks. To look into her eyes again, to bask in her warmth, its all he wanted. Its all he craved. Amber eyes looked towards him with the love he remembered they always held, the kindness and softness. The amber he loved, the color he'd come to love in her eyes and in the color of Feyre's fur. As they simply stared, he could hear the echoes of her voice and he didn't dare breathe, wanting to hear the words that were spoken. 'You need to wake up.' As if her presence had given him a strength that he had long lost, the nausea that overcame Luke before made him wretch onto the ground, but his eye blinked open, the other staying closed as he coughed. He was feverish and ill, but she was here. He looked up meekly and tears fell as he stared towards her. "Tell me this isn't a dream," He croaked as he stared towards her. "Tell me you're actually here Wren," He cried as he buried himself into her fur. Weak sobs racked his body as he cried, inhaling the scent he missed, the one he longed for, the one he loved and had memorized. He could barely move but she was real. She was real."My heart. My home. You've returned to me, I love you. I love you, I love you," He sobbed as he pushed into her, whining and openly displaying affection towards her, not caring for any stares as he reunited with his other half. And for once in the many years that Luke had been alone, he was finally whole again. Wren

Rasping, shallow breaths were the only indication she had that her love was even alive. For so long she had searched for him, and yet now that she had finally laid eyes on him, it seemed like he was slipping away. His ribs shuddered with every inhale, and with every exhale they seemed relieved to be free from the strain of breathing. She worried that with each breath he would succumb to the temptation of eternal relaxation. So desperately she wanted him to hear her, to come back and wake up, but she knew that if he did we would likely be in an enormous amount of pain. He would suffer, a shell of himself until this sickness had passed and then she would have to see who he had become after all these injuries. If he did decide to slip away, she at least could take comfort in knowing she was here. She found him, even in his most horrid state, and could be with him as he passed. Her bracing for the worst was interrupted by a racking cough as her mate sputtered back to life. Wren barely had time to dodge his wretching mess before she was pushing herself into him bawling. No relief could ever compare with hearing his dry voice creak. She was happy to compensate for his lack of strength tucking into her with a vigour that would rival a mother bear protecting her cubs. "I'm here, I'm here, you're here," she managed to sniffle into his fur, the feverish warmth of his skin pressing against her nose. "My heart. My home. You've returned to me, I love you. I love you, I love you," Luke's sobs matched her own as the pair finally reunited. "I love you, I love you, I'm here, I love you," was all she could say back as her grief shattered into relief. The adrenaline that fueled her body shot through her at lightning speed, all but vanishing as soon as he uttered his first words. Cream fur mingled with dull fiery orange as she sagged her weight down on her mate in exhaustion. "Oh, Luke, I love you. I can't imagine what you've been through. All I need in this world is for you to be okay. How I've missed you. I searched for you after the floods but I couldn't even catch a scent. I never lost hope of finding you, but returning to these lands was too painful without you until now. I can't believe you're here. I love you so much," she breathed shakily, her voice tight from the tears of joy spilling down her face. For a few moments, she could only breathe in Luke once more. The comforting smell of cedar laced with mint was so unmistakable as her mate that she could hardly believe she had gone so long without smelling it. She had taken it for granted before, that was sure. Back when their scents mingled together in their den, two wolves as one unit against the world, she woke up in love but never truly appreciated the little gifts that each day of love brought her. The smell of him, his gruffness and his juxtaposing dorkiness, the wealth of bounties they had just being together. The fact that they hadn't managed to start a family before the floods didn't stop them from making their own. With a start, her head jolted up and she moved it until she was nose-to-nose with her mate. "Makoto and Haruka are alive. They're on Noctis lands. Both healthy, both happy, they're alive. I can't wait for them to see you again. They were ecstatic to see me, I think they might explode once they know you're okay," she murmured lovingly to her mate. Tucking her face next to his in an embrace she hadn't felt in years, she finally allowed her body to relax into his. Luke was alive. She was alive. Their worlds could finally start spinning again. “ I agree, I think a hunt would be good, it would be nice to hunt just the two of us,” Red spoke with a soft smile, nuzzling her friend genty. Staying like this for a moment, Red just let the two of them rest together for a little bit. Both just staring at each other affectionately. Red could feel heat rising underneath her fur the longer she held her friend's gaze. Chaos outside drew Red’s attention. Looking apologetically at Athena, she removed herself from her embrace, “ Let’s go check things out.” Red murmured worriedly before leaving the den. Hearing the last bits of Eureka’s orders, she gathered that a disease was spreading and those that were well needed to go to the Lake. Hearing Tomlin’s cries for his mother she eyed Athena. “ We should try to gather the pups up and get them to the lake.” Red wasn’t the greatest when it came to empathy and trying to convince others. She eyed Athena with a pleading gaze and eyed Tomlin, hoping her crush friend would be able to help convince the pup to separate from his mother, help get his brother to follow them to the lake. If Athena chose to help convince Tomlin, Red began scouting for the other pup. Rory also concerned Red. The mother was collapsed out in the open in winter and needed to be moved somewhere warm. But to move her would be potentially exposing herself to whatever is going on and that meant staying behind. Conflicted feelings swirled in her chest but her first goal was to get Athena and pups to a safer area. Eureka, Tomlin, Rory, Merlin

Red didn't let the pups complain and picked one up by the scruff dropping the little one by Athena's feet, and ushering the other one with her paws towards Athena. " Go!" Red commanded sternly, not allowing the pups to complain. " Its dangerous, and you're mother would want you safe first," she spoke, looking to the other two and would block their movements if they tried to rush back towards Rory. Looking to Athena, " Raincheck on the hunt?" she gave a half cocked smile. " Take them to the Lakeside stream, regroup with the others and howl once you're there so I know you three are safe," she instructed her beloved. She hoped Athena could handle the two pups before she turned her attention back to their mother. Approaching Rory, she sunk forward and pushed her onto Red's shoulders before dragging her back into her den. " I'm going to try to find the Salutary," she whispered, wondering if the mother could even hear her. While searching for someone with herbal knowledge she spotted Luke and another wolf. She was vaguely familiar with Luke but she can't remember if she met the she-wolf. Approaching the duo she noticed that they were not doing well either. " Those that aren't sick have been moving to the Lakeside stream," she informed, probably redundant information if they had already heard the command from Eureka. " Let me help you get somewhere warm," she moved to offer her body for Luke to lean against. Athena Rory Luke Wren Tomlin Merlin
